My wife is less than enthusiastic with my hobby...
As I can easily spend an hour or two at my computer (even more after
everyones sleeping).
She calls the amiga my "electronic mistress".
That coupled with the fact that she has no interest in computers, and
the fact that she thought she had me all to herself for the weekend
brought on her exagerrated illness at seeing the too familiar sight of
the Amiga Workbench Requestor.
When she saw the T.V., she asked how I did it!
This isn't all that uncommon among married couples...
The Hobbies just differ.

| I have been blind! I've wondered why my girlfriend has started making
disparaging remarks toward my amiga and technology in general. I guess
its time for a long weekend on the coast with my beloved...I wonder how
Amy will react ;^)

My amiga is also known as "The Mistress"..
I've been told that the Computer Industry is the only one where
the other party in a Divorce case is refered to by a serial number..

Mine does the same so this weekend I got her to help me put up an
8'x13' wall mural titled "Earthrise" (enlarged Apolo photo of standing
on the moon watching the Earth rise above the moon's horizon)!
Her color went from grey to a pale green ;-}

| I was talking to Paul Collins (CBM video rep) and he told me many of
the cable stations are using amigas these days. There are services
offered to cable companies that come complete with amigas. I was aware
that many stayions wre using Amigas on a day to day basis but was not
aware that they were part of a larger package. This of course is good
for the amiga. CBM is pushing the system as an OEM product. I would
like to see more used in this manner. The pontential market is vast,
and of course I can't afford to enter the fray, but AmigaVision with
a touch screen amiga and kiosks look to me as a sound basis for
starting a business.
I'm lucky in that I get to play with amy as long as I want with no
problems with the wife. She works on crafts,I play on the amiga. I have
it set up in the bedroom, and she watches TV in the evenings while i
play. I believe their are many wives out there that would love it if
their spouse traded in the fishing pole, and gun for an amiga. Of course
now the user base is expanding to the wives, and the problem is for many
is getting system time. I guess it's the price you have to pay if you
want an amiga. I sold my easel to a friend with a four year old
daughter, and guss who wants the system all the time now ?

Preview Guide, which MANY cable systems use to display their schedules
(and produce advertising revenue) is entirely Amiga based (an A500 for
local input/production and an A2000 with GenLock for the on-air display
are included in the package), with the schedule information downloaded
from a master database via satellite. There's a fairly complete
description of the system in a recent issue of Amazing Computing.
More recently, one of the contributors to Amazing Computing (possibly
the same guy who described Preview Guide) has written several articles
to tell how his TV station uses a flock of Amigas for just about every
aspect of production.

I have to fight off my sons (ages 14 & 17) rather than my wife. [As
I've noted elsewhere, she's one of those rare people who CAN'T use a
mouse (she is unable to cordinate mouse motions in the horizontal
plane with icon movement on a vertical screen). A two-button light pen
(or maybe a trackball mounted on the side of the monitor) would be
right for her.] Our Amiga resides in the basement along with the TV,
C=128 (she DOES use that, but I have to do the cable swapping when she
wants to print anything) and Nintendo.

| My 21 month old son started crawling onto my chair and poking at the mouse
and keyboard. So I bought a copy of PETE to leave running and entertain
him when the system's not left doing something important. That was a mistake!
Try getting system time from someone who's hasn't yet grasped the
concept of "sharing."

| Are you guys sure that your significant others aren't just going
through a buss reset? You know dark gray, green, red, blue, light
gray and then the blue of a workbench screen in their eyes?
I ask only because I've seen my wife's eyes go thru all the above
colors (except the workbench blue).
