4046.0. "MRBACKUP S,P protection problem" by SNOFS1::VETTE (Nude Mud Wrestlers Anonymous) Fri Aug 24 1990 03:16
Does MRBACKUP have a problem with protection bits?
I decided the other week that I didn't like the way I had formatted my RD52, I
was using an Old File System partition as my boot disk, and decided to go for a
small OFS parition to autoboot from, then thansfer control to a larger partition
to use as my "System" disk.
So, I backed everything up using MRBACKUP 3.4, then restored it, and got stopped
by the Fast RAM bug in V3.4. So, after I saw the timely announcement of V4.0B, I
was able to restore everything. However my startup wouldn't run because all the
P and S protection bits had been dropped. After I reset them all was fine.
Did I lose the P and S bits because I used V3.4 to backup everything, or is it
an intrinsic problem with MRBACKUP all versions?
Lindsay (who is much happier with 24 more bytes per block)
