4025.0. "Mail order in the U.K." by PEKING::NONDEP () Sun Aug 19 1990 14:05

    Hi,

I've decided to let out my disapointment with my first ever
mail order -over the phone- my usual shop was close for the week

Moderator if not apprpriate please remove

It was 3 weeks ago i saw an advertisment from a Company called
Softsellers Ltd in the UK tel 0473 257158 and 0473 210605 they had
the joystick i wanted. So here i go phone them Tuesday morning
after multiple tries and place the order agianst credit card number
having asked wether they had it in stock. They checked and said yes
delivery Friday or Latest Saturday . Just fine I had a boring week end
    in view.
Nothing arived waited patiently monday afternoon still nothing.
    Phoned them again.
They said it will be arriving tuesday or Wednesday with no decent
explanation . Still nothing to cut the story short. I finally sent
a fax asking for reasons of delay and reply asap by fax or phone
call. No response. I finally got my joystick the third saturday of the
order and still haven't got any explanation.

It's a shame for them but I was going to get some nice software
at some stage and much later some hardware. But now no chance.

Is there anyone in the U.K. who's placed an order from them and
been satisfied with the level of service ?

Is there any mail order house in the U.K. that can be recommended
     by personal experience.

Many thanks in advance, Patrick Nonde @wlc

    Well,

The two mailorder houses I've used to get hardware here in the UK
    were Power Computing and Ashcom.

Both have been very helpful and have had quick delivery ( within 3
days). Maybe I've just been lucky !.

    Hello,

        I ordered a mini-genlock from Datel-electronics.
They told me it would take 2 weeks, Instead it took 2 months.
But they charged me (using the credit-card) right away.
I'm going to London myself now and look for some nice soft- or
hardware. Can anybody give me a good tip with interresting prices ?

                                                         Greetings,

                                                               Henry

    	Re .2
Is the Mini-Genlock the one advertised for under 100 pounds

    ie. 'Pro-genlock'
If so what a bout an impartial review ??

    re .4

I can't remember them off hand, but if you check any copy of
Amiga Format or Amiga Computing they're in there.
