To the Gurus out there: I have a PC-compatible machine at work and a AMIGA 500 at home. What is the best way to download the AMIGA files available on the system for downloading?. Should I first copy them to my node and transfer them to MS-Dos and then download them from my PC to the Amiga or is there a better way to do this?. In either case, would someone tell me what kind of software I would need in order to download with the Amiga?. Thanks. Winston

Quick reply: dir/title=download Most recent previous note on this topic: 3979 Longer reply: If you have a 5-1/4" floppy on the PC, then buy a 5-1/4" floppy for the Amiga and use PCCOPY, a program that came on the operating system disk. If your PC has a 3-1/2" disk, buy CrossDOS for Amiga or use the public domain program MSH. In either case you may have to format diskettes on the Amiga, and when transferring binary files you will soon learn about the CVTARC utility for VMS. Free advice: find another Amiga owner at your office and ask how he/she does it. There are a number of hints and kinks to the downloading process, and the advice in this notesfile doesn't work 100 percent of the time at every Digital site. Wes |
