3985.0. "MIPS Benchmarks" by GRANPA::RUYOUNG (Big MIDI goes around the world) Thu Aug 02 1990 17:37

    I tried DIR/TIT and keywords for this, but couldn't find anything on
    it...this conference is a tiny bit messy...like a frat house room...

    :-D

    How are MIPS benchmarks calculated on the Amiga (any PD stuff floating
    around?)

    What other performance statistics are popular, and what are they based
    upon? Do they include memory writes, math coprocessors, etc.?

    I want to get a definate value to bandy around in people's faces for
    the Amiga with a GVP 68030/68882 32Mhz system (120ns memory I think).

    Thanks,
    Mike

3985.1HEY, BENCHMARKERS, READ THIS!!! :-)WJG::GUINEAUThu Aug 02 1990 17:5414
Look on wjg::amiga:bench.lzh

There are a bunch of benchmarks in there and a script I made to run them
on 030 systems.

I sent it out to some 030 owners (you know who you are :-) who encompass
about each type of 030 card made fo rthe Amiga.

My 28MHZ Imtronics 68030/68882 rates 8.37 mips with the MIPS benchmark.

I haven't gotten numbers from the other guys yet (HINT HINT) but when I do
I'll summarize the results adn post a report...

    Could you send/point-me-to the script? I have a GVP 68030,68882 28Mhz
    board w/ 4meg of 32bit ram.

re: the script.

It's in wjg::amiga:bench.lzh

It depends heavily on the stuff in that file. Download it, and use lharc
to unpack it:

	lharc -x x bench

Make sure you use -x so it creates subdirectories.
