| Maybe I have been missing the boat, but I have been somewhat involved
in the Amiga world for a few year now, and I have never heard Amiga
2000A/2000B. An Amiga 2000 (which comes standard with 1 meg RAM, 1
3.5" drive, keyboard, mouse) can be had for $800 or less. (I just sold
one for $800) The extra 3.5" drive is worth about $70. The monitor is
maybe another $100 or more (not sure about that price). As for the HD
and controller, maybe $100 for the controller and whatever the
drive is worth. For a 65ms Seagate, I wouldn't pay more than $5 per meg
of capacity, not more than $200-300 no matter what size it is.
All in all, maybe $1200 for the system with original manuals/software.
Less if the Kickstart (ROM OS) revision is less than 1.3 and you don't
get Workbench 1.3.2

| P.S. are you sure you didn't mean A2000 which stands for Amiga 2000
when you said 2000A.
BTW, there are a lot of good cheap systems selling right now with all
the old time amiga users upgrading to 3000s etc... If the person you
know wants a lot of money, it may be worth it to look around especially
USENET or at a dealership which takes trade ins or sells on
consignment.

| Re .0:
I think the base note is referring to an early German-made A2000.
Early U.S. units were referred to as "B2000" models, though this
notation seems to have fallen from use. There ARE some differences
between the models (which are documented at some length in this
conference, should one wish to dig into history).
> Will all sw run on a 2000A or is there sw around for 2000B only?
The VAST MAJORITY of Amiga software runs on all models from all eras.
There's a higher probability that a program will have trouble due to
the AmigaDOS version than due to the difference between the "A2000" and
"B2000".
