3940.0. "AEGIA DRAW 2000 (CAD) Question." by MUSKIE::GAINES () Fri Jul 20 1990 18:16

    I recently purchased an Amiga 2000. I had a 500. When I purchased the
    2000 I got all the software as well. All of it is legit, all books
    and warranty cards intact.

    My problem is the AEGIS DRAW software. I have a Roland DXY-800 8 pin
    plotter. This is one of the recommended plotters for this software.
    When I select say "Blue" or black as my current color, I noticed
    that the plot output selected the same pen location for these colors.
    How do I tell AEGIS DRAW that black is pen #1 and Dark Blue is pen #2
    and yellow is pen #3 etc... I can't find this documented anywhere in
    the book. There is also a file in the D2000 directory that is called
    draw.defaults. This is a text file and it looks like it is made up of
    plot commands. Is this the beast I must be concerned with? Again
    nothing is documented describing the draw.defaults file.

    Any/all  help is appreciated.

    Regards:

3940.1About the DRAW.DEFAULTSEEMELI::LINDENMon Jul 23 1990 02:4816
    re: .0

    Hi!

    I've used the Aegis Draw quite a lot, although not with plotters.

    About the 'draw.defaults' file, it includes the details about how large
    is the window and what colors are the default one's and what other
    parameters you might change to suit your needs. That file is always
    read when DRAW is started, so when you change some parameters and wanna
    use them always, save them to that 'draw.defaults' file, otherwise you
    might do another file wich you can load when ever needed.

3940.2Any more help?ITASCA::GAINESMon Jul 23 1990 10:525
    Kari, any more info on DRAW.DEFAULTS? What characters/numbers will
    allow me to assign pen numbers to my color pallate? Any more info
    would be appreciated!

3940.3At least screen coloursEEMELI::LINDENTue Jul 24 1990 02:198
    It saves the colour data that you will see on your screen, I'm not sure
    how it does effect the colours used by plotters...

    PS: I'll play with program tonight when I get home, so if I can find
    	some solution to your problem. So I'll let you know by tomorrow.

    Kari, get any ideas on how to define colors from the pallette to
    plotter pen locations yet?

    Ok, I'm still patiently waiting...

3940.7No solution!EEMELI::LINDENThu Aug 02 1990 03:0214
    Sorry, about the delay.

    I couldn't find any way to control plotter pen from the DRAW, the file
    DRAW.DEFAULT is where it stores only the parameters/colors that
    affect on the display are or the measurements (feets/centimeter/
    layers/etc).

    The only to change pen, could be by editing the plotter file.
    There seems no other way.

3940.8Math version???GIDDAY::LAWSONMon Sep 10 1990 19:1914
    Is anyone out there succesfully using the "M" (math version) of draw 2000
     on a '020/68881 system?

    I thought that mine was ok until I tried to draw a line via the
    keyboard coordinate method, e.g; 20,20,10,90 - a line 10 units in
    length at 90 degrees (verticle) originating at point 20,20. The result
    is a line of correct origin and length but at some crazy angle of about
    315 degrees. Tried various angles but none worked.

    Went back to the "Non-Math" version and all was OK.

    Somethin' aint right here.
