| You're quite welcome. Just realized that I forgot to tell you the
filename... that **might** facilitate finding it... Anyway, it's
'JRC10.LZH'...

| V1.0 is heavily fortified with various Shareware gimmickry. But for $30
you can get it removed.
For example, a registration reminder screen pops up quite frequently.
Any attempts to modify anything in the program results in another
message and a system crash (I believe it also automatically corrupts
the .defs and .phones files) - probably implemented through a checksum.
After 30 days, yet another message pops up to remind you that the
evaluation period has expired! The program is pretty large but can be
dramatically reduced in size using PowerPacker.
You cannot run the JR-Edit program unless you have first run JR-Comm
and have created a new .defs and .phones files. Be sure to save your
.94 .phones. and .defs files somewhere else. JR-Edit allows you to
convert them to V1 files.

| Just so you'll know,
JR-Comm does have checksum routines to protect from file zapping.
V1.0 is well worth the $30 registration fee. My roommate is a beta
tester for Jack, and I think he found just about every bug possible,
and Jack fixed 'em all. The program works like a charm.

| Just got a copy of JR-Comm free with Amiga User International (a UK publication)
November edition
Well worth having, it now sits on my (muchly depleted to make room) Workbench
disk. Main benefits to me are VT100 emulation and ZMODEM
VT100 emulation includes full keypad (and all in the right place too)
I think it's at V1.02 now (I'm at work at the moment).

Actually I've changed my mind about JR-Comm..
It looks good..
It feels good...
But its VERY buggy. For some reason if you ever let the
cursor get near the bottom of a screen you stand a good
chance of getting GURUed. Plus sometimes the fonts go
haywire and you get a load of characters with the bottoms cut
off. Plus if its stored on your workbench disk it tries
to write to the disk on startup every time (who knows why)
plus it complains it cant read the defaults file (though it
can and does) plus......
Now I've discovered VLT and I'm much happier.

Golly, I haven't run into these problems (except perhaps the writing to disk
one, but are you sure you don't have default journaling turned on or a log
file enabled as default?).
I have had no crashes or other problems on my A3000, A2500, A500, or A1000
using KS37.175 (V2.04). I have not run V1.02 with the V1.3.3, V1.3.2 or earlier
systems, so there could be problems there.
I have tried the program "term" (V1.9 I think) and it has a very nice user
interface implementation. It, however *is* buggy. The VT100 implementation
will not even run notes correctly. Perhaps Radigan can spiff up the JRComm
user interface a bit to use some 2.0 features and look.
