3909.0. "jrcomm" by OTOU01::ANDERSON () Sun Jul 08 1990 21:12

    Hi, faceless ones!!!

Anyoneout there having problems with JRComm?

Everything works fine except downloading (and uploading).
As soon as the information window comes up indicating that the transfer
is about to start, the screen flashes (indicating an error) and a
message about "carrier detect" appears (quickly).
I've tried the switch for relaxed timing but there's no difference.
The host machine is ready to send, and I've tried Diga! and Access!
    without any problems.
The only thing I could think of is a modem incompatibility - I have a
    Packard bell 1200+.
Anyone had any similar problems, or got any ideas?

    Hi,

I've had some similar problems with JRcomm and the carrier detect
message, what I had to do to solve it was to disable the 'carrier
detect' gadget. It would seem that some modems force the carrier
detect signal to TRUE, thus JRC gives an error when trying to dial
out... This could be the problem you have with the download feature as
    well.

What version of JRC are you talking about? There's only been 3 dozen
    or so written.

Personally, I'd scrap the JRC and use VLTjr with the XPRZmodem Library.
I've been using nothing else, and haven't had the first problem...

    Hi JK,
I tried disabling the 'carrier detect' gadget, already; the
transfer didnt abort, but then it didnt start either - just sat their -
I stopped it after about 30 seconds.
I'm using JRComm94a; Ive downloaded it twice in case I got a bad copy.
Yes, Ive seen many references to VLT in this conference, but Ive never
seen it on any ofthe BBS's I dial into. Maybe I'll try it, if its on
here, and I can transfer succesfully.
