| Arrggh! How many times must I die? I'm stuck at the entrance to the
medieval castle, only the eighth screen! I've tried everything obvious
and some not so obvious things with the stuff I'm carrying, the place
where I enter the screen, where I look and move the hero. But the
monks always kill the hero before he can do more than one thing.
Suggestions? SPOILERS??
BTW, I think this is a very nice game... plenty of aha! reactions
getting this far. Copy protection is "look up the spots," highly
amusing. FW runs fine from my hard drive. Art and sound are very high
quality. Saved games go on a standard format floppy. Only down side
is that it's apperently impossible to exit the game without rebooting.

| HELP.
Over the weekend I purchased a new game, FUTURE WARS, this game
is an adventure game with what is claimed to be a totally new approach
called CINEMATIQUE. ( so confident are they in its merits they've
copyrighted it ). Basically the idea is to combine the classic text
adventure with Cinema style graphics. I must admit it looks very
impressive so far, the sound and graphics are very good indeed.
The problem is I am a bit of a novice where adventure games are
concerned and I can't get very far ( this is an understatement )
into the game. Is there someone out there in AMIGA Notes world who
has this game.
The basic idea of the game scenario is ;
It is the 43rd century, Earths colonies have been destroyed
by the unpronouncable aliens, the surviving human race is holding
out on mother Earth, their SDI system has held now for two generations
but shock, horror ! the enemy has decided on a new tactic. They
have gone back in time and are planting strategic bombs in the past
in an attempt to destroy the SDI system before it was ever conceived.
Our hero is a current day ( 20th century ) window cleaner and
while prowling round his bosses office he discovers a time tunnel
which transports him on an adventure through prehistoric, middle
ages and the future.
Sounds good, looks good, plays very well.....but I can't find the
first time tunnel in my bosses office. HEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPP !
Regards,
Chris ( who goes back to cleaning windows until someone can widen
my horizons ).

| Thanks for the help Greg, Im on my way........
The game is very good, some of the objects are a bit too small and
rely heavily on the picture clarity and users eyesight being 99%+.
Hint required
I have killed the wolf, the chaps in the Inn arent too talkative,
the castle guard won't let me in and the monastery is a no no until
I find some additional equipment.
Please give me a hint as to how to access the castle ( or the Inn
if that will in turn lead me to the castle ), my inventory is rather
pathetic at the moment. I have

3893.13 | Comments and Hint | KALI::PLOUFF | It came from the... dessert! | Tue Aug 21 1990 10:37 | 19 |
| Just finished the game two nights ago. At times thought it couldn't be
done. Toward the end I appreciated the game's wit and the way it
played with and around my common sense. The _Amigaworld_ review was
pretty lukewarm, but I like this game a lot. It takes some thinking to
get through this one, so who cares if the story line is somewhat
predictable?
Now, a hint for CWILL (.12)...

I think I have to do other than just walk into

I feel so stupid... I picked up FW and can't seem to make it past the

the keypad.

| Re: .16 - Secret passage. This really isn't a spoiler after what Ed
put in his posting... OPERATE the individual numbers on the keypad.
All those mouse clicks are awkward, but there _is_ enough time to do
what you need. This is one of the few weak points of the game, IMO.
re: .15 - Monastery. You have what you need, now just keep exploring.
As you found out a couple of scenes ago, you can visit some areas and
get nowhere, but after you do things in the right sequence, a revisit
opens new vistas, so to speak.
Sorry for the circumlocution (and potential bad puns), but the thrill
of discovery is key to enjoying this game. Above all, persistence and
common sense will take you far.

| DA DA DA DA DA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
DONE IT :-) :-)
It was such a great game it was almost an anti climax when I completed
it, if only there was another Delphnie product out.........but then
as I was walking through John Menzies, what do I spy in our local
computer sofftware shop that 'never' has any new software.
Operation Stealth - 24.99
Yipeeeeeeee, its Delphnie's second release.
I spent ALL yesterday playing it, its at least as good, the small
pixel object has been fixed. Its a little self involved at the start
and there are some quite long totally animated scenes, but with
3 disks this time, some extra actions, you can now examine, use
and operate pieces of inventory on pieces of inventory its maintained
the standard and by variation of the story theme the uniqueness
of Cinematique ( sp ).
The general idea is, that as one of the CIA's top guys you must
discover who ( there are suspects ) managed to steal a Stelth Fighter
when it was on trials. You are packed off to some made up South
American country, where there is a town for you to explore !!!
A real nice bit is the specialised equipment available to you, I
just hope his ones a little longer.
Regards,
Chris ( who has learned alot from Future Wars and is doing
quite respectfully in Operation Stealth - SO FAR )

| Help!
Another new man to Future Wars, I thought that I was doing well. I got into the
game without too much bother, but now I'm absolutely stuck! We've been staring
at the screen for 5 full evenings now, and we can't get out of the shuttle port.
Our inventory is :-
Blowtorch
Key
Newspaper
Lance
Documents.
I hope this doesn't spoil it for anyone, but :-
We've found the room off of the main reception area, with the fusebox, and the
voice from the cubicle. But what now? Have we missed an object? Is it just a
case of waiting? Have we missed a room/location? The fusebox seems significant
but it defies all attempts at manipulation. Am I barking up the wrong tree?
Subtle pointers would be appreciated....
I await in hopeful anticipation.

Start over at the screen where you materialize in the ruins of the

not very large.
When in the shuttle port, you've found the next thing to manipulate
already. After that, prepare to act when nobody is looking. :-)

| Thanks for the pointer! I had seen the offending entity, but lack of dexterity
had made me miss the fact that it was useable.
Anyway, It did teach me another lesson, because my previous save point was some
way back, so I had to retrace a lot of steps. Still, even this proved useful,
because I hadn't been as observant as I should have been.
So... off we go again

He has :-

He tries to put the flag in the map but has not succeeded. Also if he

response.
All very puzzling....

Hi there,
we are also stuck in the monastery. We think we did erverything in a
quite logical order. We entered the monastery, got first in the
superior's room, went after that straight to the chapel to get the cup
filled it up. After this procedure we returned to the superior's room,
got him drunk, found the remote control and the magnetic card.
And now we keep on checking everything, walking in circles together
with our good friends the monks but we can't find a way out.
Maybe someone can give us a hint because we now stuck at this point
for hours and it starts to get boring.
Merry Christmas and a haapy new year to you all.
