Here are Boston Computer Society Amiga-related meetings for the
month of May. Big news is the May 23 Amiga Multimedia presentation
at the BCS General Meeting.
Friday, May 4 - Amiga Video Subgroup. Topic to be announced.
Meets at 7:30 PM, Cambridge Community Television Studios, One
Kendall Square, Cambridge. (Located next to Quantum Books and near
Draper Labs, actually five blocks northwest of Kendall Square
itself.) For more information call Cary Wasserman at (617)
492-5621.
Monday, May 7 - Amiga Tech Group. "Amiga Programminig in a Visual
Arts Educational Context." Hubert Hohn, director of the Computer
Arts Learning Center at Mass. College of Art, discusses development
of educational programs for students from art to math to science.
7:30 PM at Department of Transportation, Cambridge, Rm. 120. See
below for directions.
Tuesday, May 15 - Amiga General Meeting. "Word Processors for the
Amiga." Discussion of what's new, what's improved and what's
coming. What's good for simple tasks, desktop publishing; what are
prices; is there a good public domain WP? 7:30 PM at Department of
Transportation, Cambridge, Auditorium.
DoT building is located at 55 Broadway, at the intersection of
Broadway, Main and 3rd Streets, and across from the Marriott Hotel.
Enter tall building through center courtyard; parking on side
streets. Recommended approach: use Storrow Drive to the Kendall
Square - Cambridge exit. Or ride the Red Line to Kendall.
Wednesday, May 23 - BCS General Meeting. "Real-Time Desktop Multimedia
on the Amiga." Commodore and Gold Disk combine to unveil breakthrough
technologies for real-time desktop multimedia presentation. Gold
Disk's David Jones demonstrates the just-released _Showmaker_ video
production software package. Stay tuned for possible Commodore
presentation. 7:30 PM, The New England Hall, 225 Clarendon St, Boston.
Street parking is difficult; paid parking at Copley Place, theatre
district or under Boston Common, then walk several blocks. Or ride the
Green Line to Arlington or Copley.
