3740.0. "New Digitizing Hardware Info" by CGHUB::MILLER_C (Chuck - Don't Worry, be HOPpy!) Wed May 02 1990 13:56

Hey present and future Digitizers!

I checked out the Canon Xapshot this weekend. Though it is clever,
it is severely limited due to it's lack of lenses. I thought the
image quality was only marginal, and that was with Canon's own demo.
It was like an $800 Instamatic.

What I did find though, was a different gadget. It is from
Tamiron (sp?). It is a gadget that allows you to view slides and
negatives (35mm) through your TV or to Video Tape (so why not Amiga?).
It also allows 3x Zooming. Other models will handle 2.5 inch format
film and up to 6x zoom.

These images were excellent! Since you have all the flexability of
any high quality SLR Camera, the quality is limited only by your current
camera equipment. I have loads of slides, this looks to be a great way
to get into a decent video format.

The thing sells for about $800. I post some details when I have the
spec sheet in front of me. I saw it at Harvard Camera, at the
Harvard Town Common (Massachusetts)

Regards,
Chuck

    re: .0 Tamron Fotovix

This device can display slides or negatives (suitably reversed)
on a tv or vcr. It will enlarge, crop, color balance, etc...

There are two models, the Fotovix 2x and the Fotovix 3. The 2x
is the one with the most whistles and bells. Used with an electronic
color splitter such as from Sunrize, the output can be fed into
    a digiview.
