Can anyone help with diagnosing a problem on the Power Supply of my sons A500? The internal fuse has been replaced but blows again immediately. I need either a circuit diagram or the name / address of a repair facility in the UK, preferably near Basingstoke/Reading. Adrian

> But if you pick up a copy of Amiga Format from your Newsagent. Hmm. I just picked up a copy of Amiga Format with disk while I was in England last week (on business :-( ). Seems like a half decent magazine, but the disk had some neat games demos on it ! john

Yes it is a good magazine.. At present they are running an article on the Menace Game i.e. How it was arrived at and most of the source in Assembler, quite interesting. Pete

Adrian, If you turn the PSU over you will see four dimples more or less at each corner. These are plugged recesses which contain the screws holding the two halves of the PSU box together. Remove the plugs (possibly by drilling a pilot hole in which you insert a wood screw which you can then pull out with pliers, hopefully bringing the plug with it!) You can then remove the screws and split the box. You can now see the circuits which are standard IC type regulators. Also FYI a company called:- Midland Computer Repair Services, Unit 1, The Old Dairy, North Street, Melton Mowbray, Leics., LE13 I1NL (that post code looks funny to me!) has a range of booklets they call "TECHADE" (diagnostic fault-finding guides) for the Commodore C64,C64C,C128,A500,1541 disc drive. The one for the A500 was supposedto be out in Dec 89 but was still not available in Feb 90. They do, of course, repair them and anyway most High Street shops will send them away and charge you handling as well. Paul. |
