| When BYTE called me to find out why I dropped my subscription after
7 years, I told them that most people give away catalogs instead of
charge for them ;^}
Please post what is being sold so I don't have to patronize BYTE.
Thanks,

| I quit reading Byte when they dropped the best of BIX for the Amiga.
If I go down to the magazine store I'll browse, but I doubt I'll
ever buy another issue. I quit reading Personal publishing because
I Haven't seen the Amiga in it yet,and they keep pretending no one
can color seperate bitmaps. I don't expect to see the Amiga in every
issue, but I refuse to support mags that treat it like an undesireable.
I still find it hard to buy anything from ANTIC.If you want to see
mags that often have amiga Articles but are not amiga specific look
at the Video mags.Problem here is they often have mistakes in articles
on the Amiga.I think this is because many are not used to computers.
Of course this is good for the Amiga.

Well, atleast in Finland is sold ANTIC's AMIGA PLUS magazine wich is
basicly on business side of the Amiga (hardly game reviews). It is
published every two months. This magazine is quite good(competes
against AMIGA WORLD).

I made the comment about Antic because when I bought my
amiga they only published an Atari mag that took cheap shots
at the Amiga all the time. Then when the ST died out they come around
like they have always been there to support the Amiga. I read their
new mag but haven't forgot how they used to rag on the Amiga.

Amiga, a state of mind.
A FRIEND OF A FRIEND OF A FRIEND OF A FRIEND OF C=, told me...
OK: These are 99% accurate.
A3000 launch: 27 March at World of Amiga in New York City. Canadian launches
are May 7 at Ontario Science centre and May 10 in Montreal at Sheraton Laval. I
beleive that there will be a Vancouver launch as well... You need TIX for
Canadian launches.
SPECS: It will be in next BYTE. 2 versions differing only by clock rate of CPU.
1 is 16 Mhz 030 and other is 25 Mhz 030. FULL 32-BIT MEMORY, ON MOTHERBOARD.
AUTOCONFIGS TO 18 (over 15 at least) 32 bit. 2 MEGs of Chip memory. Flicker-
fixer-like device eliminates flicker in all modes, and works with PAL. Has
new Denise and Agnus. Has x# of ZORRO 3 slots ( which are full 32-bit addres-
able). KICKSTART 2.0 = 512K. Initial release will NOT include scalable fonts.
NEW: A CPU slot (?). Less PC slots. Power on the front, sleaker looking.
PRICE: similar to 25/30's.
ULOWEL CARD: Will be released together. 256 + 2 colors out of 16 m.
Amivision: Released at same time.
IE: three products in less than 1 month. Lots to chat about...
Don't expect to see UNIX 5r4 for any system b4 September, ON ANY SYSTEM!

>Does anyone have any specfics on the Amiga 3000?
From a good source...
- 68030/881 @ 16 MHz or 68030/822 @ 25 Mhz
- Amiga Enhanced Chip Set
- 1 Meg Chip RAM expandable to 2 Meg on board
- 1 Meg Fast RAM expandable to 4 Meg on board
- Built in Display Enhancer
- Internal SCSI Hard Drive (50 Mbyte planned)
- Internal Real Time Clock w/RAM
- 4 new Zorro III expansion slots;
Each is downward compatible w/ Zorro II cards:
1 100 pin only slot
2 100 pin slots w/ AT style extensions
1 100 pin slot in-line w/ an A2000 style video slot
- 1 CPU expansion connector
200 pins w/ processor takeover capability
Can support advanced processors/RISC/CACHE's etc.
- External expansion connectors:
23 pin Amiga video (15.75 Khz typical)
15 pin VGA style video (31.5 Khz typical)
External SCSI connector
External Floppy/Serial/Printer/Audio/Keyboard/Joysticks
- 32 bit access to on board ROM
- 32 bit CPU access to chip RAM
- 32 bit fast RAM support Custom Controller supporting static
column mode DRAMs and allowing CPU bursts access to
RAM
- 32 bit DMA based onboard SCSI controller
- Low-profile case supporting total of 3 internal 3.5" drives
- Front mounted power switch
- Easier access to Joystick/Keyboard connectors
- Improved visual design
- Easy disk-drive installation and removal (Floppy and Hard)
- Hardware and software support for 60 Hz video on European
machines
Will cost less than a comparably equipped A2500 because of the use of the
three custom Amiga chips and five custom gate arrays.
New ECS version of Denise and Agnus will address 2 Mbytes. New display
modes including 31 Khs productivity mode and 1280 pixel wide SuperHires.
Fat Gary, Fat Buster.
Built-in display enhancer. Deinterlaces interlaced 15 Khs video to provide a
non-interlaced 31 Khz display. Can be used w/ VGA multisync. Works w/
genlocks. Automatically double scans non-interlaced displays. May be bypassed
entirely for using LCD shutter glasses.
V1.4 of the system software will allow changing Workbench resolution on the
fly etc. etc. etc..
Zorro III cards will have a multi-gigabyte address space etc. etc. etc.
