Not long after I was visited by the LAZARUS virus! Do you have a virus checker? The only other times I have seen problems have been when the system Gurus with files open on the disc. Diskdoctor will usually recover the files though.

I didn't know there was a LAZARUS virus!! The only time I've seen Lazarus is after using DiskDoctor and I can't get the disk name...!!!??? Steve BTW I was warned by my friend who gave me this floppy disk that it sometimes corrupted the disk...Could it be the drive need setting up???

Re: .0 There is a known bug in AmigaDOS (the timer.device, really) when asking for a delay of zero seconds causes track forty of a floppy to be corrupted. Not much software asks the timer.device for a delay of zero seconds. However, a few old versions of various screen blankers/mouse/window/ hot key programs trip over the bug. An old version of the Dillon shell had the problem too, I believe. Re: .2 > I didn't know there was a LAZARUS virus!! > > The only time I've seen Lazarus is after using DiskDoctor and I can't > get the disk name...!!!??? Well, there is always the chance that there is a new virus out there, but a few people in the past have falsely reported the existence of a Lazarus virus. The usual symptom are a few disks have mysteriously been renamed "Lazarus." Questioning usually reveals DiskDoctor had been run on the disk in the past. DiskDoctor renames the disk Lazarus after it finishes recovering it. (Lazarus is the name of the man that Jesus brought back from the dead.)
3650.4 | The program called CALL. | VIVIAN::S_GOLDSTEIN | Steve G...DTN 847-5415 | Tue Apr 10 1990 06:17 | 11 |
Thats intersting.. I've just started to use a program call CALL which displays the time,what memory's left splitting it in to Fast and chip.. and also when the modem is used, the cost of the call to the BBS... I wonder if this might be using the timer.device and causing the Problem...OR I could just have a DUFF 3.5" drive mech. Steve G |
