3636.0. "AlgoRhythms beta test" by MILKWY::JANZEN (Tom 2285421 FXO/28 Franklin MA) Fri Mar 30 1990 10:02

AlgoRhythms is a program that improvises music on the Amiga. It
doesn't make pop music. It doesn't read or write MIDI files. It
doesn't use internal Amiga voices. It doesn't receive MIDI input.
If you would like to volunteer
to report your reactions and criticisms to the early
version of my program "Algorythms" for MIDI improvisation on the Amiga,
    write to me directly.
This is a sort of public domain program in C, probably about 2K lines.
I wrote it to implement ideas about musical form that I had in 1976. It is
by design not melodic/motivic and is not usually regular in rhythmic beat.
AlgoRhythms requires an Amiga (probably would run in 512K I think), a MIDI
interface on the serial port, and a MIDI synthesizer at any one MIDI address.

Since I havn't been able to download Amiga programs since we moved work to
Franklin Mass, and since I don't keep very many spare disks on hand, I'll ask
you to send me a disk
in a sort of reusable envelope that is only just big enough for the disk
(otherwise the postal deliverer bends the disk to make it fit in the mail box)
and I will send you whatever is the current hack up of Algorhythms. It works
now, but I continue to improve about five minor details each night. You can
let me know other improvements I can make in the program.

Please DO NOT use company internal mail for this.
    Thanks

This program is now on Fred Fish Amiga Library #356. Your comments are
    still welcome.
