| I only have Project-D, they do seem to be doing regular updates
as promised, I get a postcard announcing each one. They did
implement a nice feature called express update, instead of sending
back your disk to be updated, they just charge $10 for a new one.
(normal cost for the update is $7.50 if I recall correctly)
Unfortunately, the updates I've gotten don't list a lot of the programs I
wanted to deprotect so that I could install them on my harddisk. The last
update I got also included a new utility program that can handle newer
protection schemes. So it looks like they are actively working on it.
Also be aware that only some of the programs are deprotected, not all.
If it's just backups you are looking for, one nice feature to watch for
is if the copier will let you define a parameter file describing how
to backup a disk. Most just use the parameter file they provide.

| I'm a RAW copy user. They are also very good about updates. Every
quarter they send out a letter announcing the update. Along with the
announcement, they also send out the list of new titles so you can
decide wether or not you want this particular update. RawCopy updates
are about $12 as I recall.
None of these backup programs does it all, there are some that Raw Copy
can do that Project-D cannot and vica versa. They're both very good
and have features not found in the other.
The thing that I like in RawCopy is that it also removes codewheel,
manual lookup, password, and other protection schemes as well as
backing up the disks. I also like the fact that the RawCopy update
process allows you to see the new parameter list BEFORE you order.
On the other hand, with Project-D you get a catalog tool and a nice
disk-wipe utility.
There's also NIB which can do some that neither of the others handles
but overall doesn't seem to offer a much at the moment. I don't know
if NIB offeres regularly scheduled updates.
There's also Marauder-II which still has some unique titles but updates
are no longer available. As far as I'm concerned it's obsolete.
MSI, the makers of RawCopy are also doing a companion product called
FAT TRACKS which is supposed to handle a whole different set of
copy protection schemes used on European products. I don't know if
it's available yet, RawCopy owners are supposed to get some sort of
discount on this but I haven't received any notification yet.
