3602.0. "Anyone else on the West Coast?" by PEBBLE::mwm (Mike Meyer) Wed Mar 21 1990 16:19

Is there anyone else reading this notesfile who's on the West Coast?
I'm feeling just a bit lonely out here...

If you're there, interested in a west coast Amiga archive?

And if you're not there, are you interested in what's going on at
BADGE? For instance, at the last meeting the possible cancellation of
this years BADGE Killer Demo Contest was probably the important thing.
Meeting before that, it was the Amiga SysVr4 talk, and before that was
the BOOPSI (Basic Object Oriented Programming System for Intuition)
package that's going to be packagted with 1.4.

        Cheers,
        <mike

    I'm not there, and yes I'm interested in what is going on at
    BADGE. I've never heard of BOOPSI before. Great name.

    Any news not covered by a non-disclosure would be welcome, even if it
    is just west coast news :-)

3602.2Badge updates...PEBBLE::mwmWed Mar 21 1990 19:4816
As of now, I haven't signed a non-disclosure agreement, so I can tell
you anything I know. The Boopsie presentation wasn't covered by ND, so
I can post excerpts from the beta programmers docs (if I can find them
again!). I like the name, too - if for nothing else than so I can write
a demo of it called "Betty".

JimM had permission to demo the programs & code & so on - on the
condition that he didn't show anyone who hadn't signed an ND what the
1.4 workbench was going to look like, etc. His code doesn't run on
anything but 1.4, so we didn't get to see much.

There is some talk of getting a "group non-disclosure" for Badge, so
that the group can see 1.4 before it gets frozen as a developers group.
Should be interesting.

3602.3You've got company - and I think I know who you are 8^}TPWEST::MJJONESCursed with a pornographic memoryWed Mar 21 1990 20:278
I work at UCS (that's Mountain View, 800 West El Camino Real). I moved out
here from the Boston area (I miss the Amiga BCS meetings) about a year ago. I
haven't hooked up with any of the Amiga groups or developers out here. I've
been looking to set up a local archive as well, maybe we can figure something
out.

You're not "THE" Mike Meyer are you 8^) (as in Mike (my watch has windows)
Meyer)?
