| If you mean 'SPACE ACE' (Which I think is DL II), then the demo will
run on 500k machines.
Don't know if it is on-line though!

3592.2 | not space ace | SALEM::LEIMBERGER | | Tue Mar 20 1990 09:09 | 6 |
| the program is "escape from Si???? Castle" The demo takes 3meg.The
game is supposed to play different every set,offer better save,and several
other options.They have it installed on a hard disk at System Eyes.
The ability to put it on a hard disk is a step in the right direction.
It comes on a 5 disk set,and is priced similar to Space Ace.

3592.3 | Is it the original demo you want? | ENOVAX::BARRETT | Of Optical Mice and Men... | Tue Mar 20 1990 11:15 | 3 |
| I have the original Dragon's Lair Demo. It requires 3MB memory to run
normally, but will run in 1MB without the sound. If you want it, I'll
upload it.

| Re .02
Here is some info on "Escape from singe Castle"....
The actual game runs on 512K or 1Mb >. If your playing it on a 512K
machine the there is no sound, no birth-death sequence and no
multi-tasking. With a meg or more you get all these and more !!
The sound is sampled straight off the arcade machine, there are loads
of options like 3,4 or 5 lives, easy medium or hard skill level, a save
game option, install to hard drive, link the game with "Dragon's lair I
,etc, etc (the list goes on). I don't need to mention the graphics !!!!
It seems much more playable than Space ace.

| re:.4
what is the link to Dragon's Lair I? Does it let you load that onto
the harddisk and multitask with it?

| I'm not very sure of the way the link is achieved but I know it's main
purpose is to provide the full game (all the screens from the arcade
machine). As loading to the harddisk and multitasking is possible with
the new game I would think that a linked game would also manage to
achieve this. Were these options not available for the first Dragon's
lair ???? I must confess that I haven't seen or played the first one.

| Dragon's Lair I looks like it grabbed the hardware and had a custom
loader that could handle large tracks.
No Hardisk or multitasking support. But is did support the extra 265K
RAM in the A1000 (used it's own stuff instead of the Kickstart)
I was hoping the link might extract the screens from the 7? disk set
so you could install them on the harddisk.

here.

3592.9 | Space Ace, The Answers! | SIEVAX::OADES | Geoff Oades DTN 830-6799 | Sat Mar 31 1990 13:25 | 6 |
| Back to the original question, Space ace comes on 5 disks, needs 1/2 a
meg for sound, graphics and what ever else you want, nothing more. The
demo though requires 1 meg to run, or if you have only 1/2 a meg, it
asks you which half you what to run. If you have any more questions,
write to Lee, on this channel, and I will reply when I can. Bye!

3592.11 | Install DL II? | CGOFS::R_RYAN | I used to be a coyote but Im ok nowooo | Mon Sep 17 1990 15:42 | 10 |
| This game does link with DL 1 and install DL 1 on your hard drive.
However, I'm having problems getting it to work without having disk a
and or DL 1 #1 in a floppy drive. It seems to only install the one time
and run off of the hard drive. Any further attempts require
reinstallation.
Anybody got this to work? Could it be the escape.config file in s: that
is causing the problem?

Ron

| Since this program has been out a fair while now, does anyone have a full
walkthrough for the game ? Or even a cheat mode ? I know there was a cheat
for DL I which would allow you to simply sit back and watch the entire game
run through successfully... something similar for II would be ideal!
Cheers,
Jamie.
