3562.0. "68000/68030 booting" by CACHE::BEAUREGARD (Time to change this message) Thu Mar 08 1990 08:05
I have a question for all you AMIGA GURUs out there. Ever since I've
installed my A2630 board, I occasionally experience a system lock-up.
I have some software which will not run on the 2630 so I find myself
booting up in 68000 mode. After running the application, I reboot(warm)
and come up in 68030 mode. The problem only occurs under these
conditions. Am I correct in assuming that you should only change modes
(68030/68000) using a cold boot? I did have a problem earlier with RAD.
It seems that if I booted up in 68030 mode, my startup sequence would
create a RAD. Then if I re-booted in 68000 mode, the memory where I
believe RAD was allocated was gone therefor a new RAD was created. Then
if I rebooted with the 68030 mode, GURU! My guess was that there was
now two RAD devices and the system choked.
