HI FOLKS, here another Harddrive Problem. my configurations: B2000 A2090 and Maxtor-Drive xt2190 (RD54) when i tried to format my RD54 i received funny noices from the harddrive. accessing the drive after the format results in Read/Write Errors for every access. the only way to make the RD54 work proper, is to format it with 8 READ/WRITE heads. normaly the RD54 should also work with 15 READ/WRITE heads. I tried to connect my local Commodore Dealer , but nobody could give me an answer on homany READ/WRITE heads the A2090 hddisk.device Driver can handle. is there any idea about this problem. thanks in advance for suggestion. regards Juergen

I believe the A2090 only supports 8 heads. When you say it has 15 heads, formatting heads 8 to 14 overwrite heads 0 to 6!! Now heads 0-6 have ID fields that say "this is head <8-14>" - Permanent ID NOT FOUND errors. The RD54 makes alot of noise when doing a recal so this is "normal"! John | |||||
