3539.0. "GVP's Impact A500 Hard Drive" by RTPSWS::ZIMMERMAN (Whistlin' Dixie) Fri Mar 02 1990 01:12
Has anyone had any experience or heard any rumors about GVP's
Impact hard drive for the A500? A'world gave it a pretty good
revue. It autoboots, has a 16KB data transfer buffer, can hold
up to 4MB of expansion RAM, and has a SCSI connector for up to
six additional devices. Anyone heard any bad things about this
system, other than that it hangs off of the left side of the
A500? If I were to call GVP, what questions would it be good to
ask?
Thanks for the help,
- Cliff

| I own a GVP Impact Hard disk on an A500, however it's already an
'old' model. I have only 2Mb built into the controller. The drive
I own is an 80Mb Quantum - real fast stuff.
Only 'unknown' factor is - I have some random 4 gurus sometimes
- however not reproducable. Only within the controllers 2Mb and
Memory test run. Newest A500 version with factory installed Big
fatty..
All in all I am fairly happy with it.
