I've been hunting for one too. The WITHOUT having to display it seems
to be the key piece. Take a look at the C source for some of the IFF
to printer utilities on the fred fish disks. It looks like to this
Amiga novice that they use a system call to read the screen to get
the data in a form the printer driver expects. A bit of a short cut to
avoid having to deal with IFF file formats but it could explain why
they all want the IFF pic displayed.
Now with iff.library available maybe that could change.
re .1:
I'd settle for something like PRINTGR #? from its own CLI window.
thanks,

3528.3 | PRTPIC uploaded | LODGE::LEN | David M. Len | Mon Feb 26 1990 23:13 | 3 |
| I have uploaded a utility that does print iff graphic files without
displaying them. I copied it to TAPE::USER2:[UPLOAD]PRTPIC11.ARC.
This should meet your requirements.

Thanks muchly, the doc file looks like an exact match for what I was
looking for - 1.3 printer driver support, wildcards, and doesn't
display on screen.
thanks,

| I think GPrint does what you want. It's on TAPE""::USER2:[AMIGA...] somewhere.

Already tried Gprint, not quite what I was looking for, but thanks for
the pointer.
I tried out PRTPIC last night - it works great! I had a small cli
window with it printing out a series of ham pictures each seperated
by a form feed. It even uses VMS style wildcarding!
However, after about 10 of them, I started wishing it would also
optionally print the filename along with the picture...
thanks,

3528.8 | Works great on Most Pictures | RIPPLE::LUKE_TE | | Fri Mar 02 1990 11:49 | 17 |
| I tried it out last night and it works great for most things. I
do a lot of creation of overheads which I print out on my LJ250
which is connected. For the 640x700 screens I create and print
out at 1280x1400 pixels (for great printer resolution) it works
best to set up preferences at 1280x1400 pixels and use the default
print setting of PRTPIC, since specifying pixels within the PRTPIC
command line turns off the centering function.
I still can't print out the 1280x1600 images I create with Deluxe
Photolab (using it's virtual screen capability) Printing out a
1280x1600 screen pixel for pixel gives unbelievable resolution on
the LJ250. PRTPIC scrambles these pictures when it prints them.
I guess I still have to load them up into memory and use Photolab
to print them out. I could have been such a timesaver, since now
I can only create the images, or print them, but not both at the
same time.
