Here's what you've all been waiting for! AEA, Inc. is selling an Amateur Video TV package (software and interface) for the Amiga. It lists at $299, but can be had cheaper through its dealers. The package allows receipt and transmission of 55 different SSTV (Slow Scan TV) modes, WEFAX (Weather Facsimilie), and FAX (standard telephone stuff). The box will process any type of standard Amiga IFF format material including Hi-RES color and HAM. It has full Arexx support. The hardware allows for connecting up to six different signal sources (such as your ham radio equipment or short wave receiver), plus a telephone line. Availability is NOW through your local AEA dealer. In New Hampshire, that is Rivendell's in Derry and HRO in Salem. In Mass, Telcom in Littleton.

Do you have an Address and/or telephone number for AEA.... ? I and some of my Amateur Radio buddies here in Scotia have been looking for something like this to run on the Amiga for some time. Thanks, Tom.

Paul, do you have any ideas on how fast the thing will go (9600bps?) and what kind of FAX standard it supports? Also the modem protocols (CCITT, BELL) would be interesting. Thanks, <CB>

Dunno. Not a whole lot of specifics in the ad. It supports 55 modes of slow-scan TV, so it just might support a variety of FAX standards. |
