3477.1 | One is on Amiga Resource (or something) | YUPPIE::WILSON | HOSS Trumpet | Wed Feb 14 1990 14:53 | 4 |
| I received one with a copy of a disk-based magazine. I will attempt an
upload if it is publicly distributable.

3477.2 | A.M.U.G.'s BBSlist | CRISTA::CAPRICCIO | We be fast and they be slow! | Fri Feb 16 1990 02:13 | 43 |

I've uploaded A.M.U.G.'s BBSlist as:
CRISTA""::AMIGA:BBSLIST615.ARC
This is essentially the same list that appeared on-disk in February's
Amiga Resource disk, but I got it from A.M.U.G.'s BBS. Amiga Resource
states in their mag that 'All "On Disk" software is original work and
not in the public domain.' so, just to be on the safe side...
The ReadMe tells all:
This BBSlist is Copyright 1989 by Joe Rothman. BBSlist is freely distributable
as long as it is not altered in any way and this readme file is included in the
archive. The correct name for this archive is BBSlist615.ARC. Please use the
correct name when uploading this file. That will make it easier for sysops to
track version number changes. It's OK to upload this BBSlist to any BBS or on
line service. Copyright remains with the author in spite of claims that may be
made by certain on line services. This list has been submitted to Compute!'s
Amiga Resource magazine for publication in an issue that will be available on
newstands in September or October of this year. Due to Amiga Resource's
editorial policy, some changes may be made to the text portion of this BBSlist
prior to publication. This arc file contains the original text that was
submitted to them. Amiga Resource is the only publication authorized to publish
this list. No one else may distribute printed copies of this BBSlist in any
publication without my express written permission. This BBSlist may not be
distributed on commercially available disk based magazines without my express
written permission. However, Public Domain disk distributors are welcome to
include BBSlist on their disks as long as it is not altered in any way, the disk
is at least 75% full and this readme file accompanies it. It may not be
distributed on a disk all by itself. Present plans call for BBSlist to be
updated at six month intervals. All numbers on the next version will have been
confirmed in a six month period instead of in a twelve month period. I am not
asking for financial contributions. BBSlist is released as Public Domain, not
Shareware, as a service to the Amiga community. All I ask is for your
cooperation in obtaining accurate information on the various systems listed.
Joe
Also, you can find in the same location, AMUG-CAT.ARC which is
A.M.U.G.'s list of on-line software on their BBS.

3477.5 | I think the .ARC file in note .2 is bad | ENOVAX::BARRETT | Of Optical Mice and Men... | Fri Feb 16 1990 16:59 | 2 |
| I tried to UNARC it on VMS (with and without using CVTARC) and ARC
complained it was an invalid archive. Is this just me?

What was the error that you got? The ARC (for VMS) version that I am using
(CRISTA""::AMIGA:ARC.EXE) works fine. If you got something like:
ARC: Cannot read archive: BBSLIST6.ARC
^
then the filename length restriction is the problem. If that be the
case, just rename the filename portion of the archive file to eight
characters or less. Just be sure to change it back to its original form
if you post it anywhere. The author requested that the archive be named
correctly when posted for "public" access:
> The correct name for this archive is BBSlist615.ARC. Please use the
> correct name when uploading this file. That will make it easier for
> sysops to track version number changes.
If you still have problems, let me know and I'll send you the unARCed
contents.
