3471.0. "TurboSilver to Motion/Object Editor 'upgrade'" by DNEAST::SEELEY_BOB () Tue Feb 13 1990 14:54
I had a chance to talk with the people at Impulse yesterday, while
asking some questions about my TurboSilver-SV. I was amazed to find
that gent on the other end of the line was VERY knowledgeable, and
apparently done some of the coding on the SV version(?). Realizing that
I had someone who was very tapped into the product, I knew that this was a
chance to get the scoop on the newest Turbo-Silver replacements, Motion
and it's Object Editor.
I casually mentioned that I was on a 'shoestring budget' and that I had
seen the overwhelming projected prices in the last Impulse flyer. I then
asked, 'how much for the owners of TS-SV who want to upgrade to the new
system?'. I got an interesting response.... He said that they had flown
the (high) prices in the last flyer and nobody 'batted an eye' at the
enormously inflated prices for the two packages. He sounded floored that
anyone would pay that much. I then reminded him of Caligari. I then asked
again, 'how much?', and was pleased when he actually responded with
the price (will wonders never cease). It appears that there is some
mercy in the universe.... I believe he said that the COMPLETE package will
sell for $150.00 for present owners of TS-SV. He also indicated that there
was a time limit for the upgrade and that after 30 days (after announcement)
you could be a fortunate individual and purchase the same package for
$350.00(!).
I understand that there is new flyer coming out soon and I'll be
interested to see if the info is accurate. I'm impressed, very few
companies provide excellent telephone support. This appears to be one
of them.

3471.1 | It's called Imagine. | DNEAST::SEELEY_BOB | | Tue Mar 27 1990 13:40 | 10 |
| The newest Impulse flyer said that the new program, replacing
TurboSilver, will be called Imagine. They will be releasing the
program (which includes two editors) in the April or May timeframe,
at which time they'll notify registered owners of the availability
of the new program. There will be a grace period during which you can
buy the new program at ($150). After that it's $350.00. Much emphasis
was placed on this being a new product with nifty features like
morphing and such. I can hardly wait.

3471.2 | Other textures? | DECWET::DAVIS | Mark Davis 206.865.8749 | Sat Apr 28 1990 21:23 | 7 |
| I just purchased Turbo Silver 3.0. I recall mention in amiga world of
7 different textures included with silver. Brick and Check was included
in my package. Is there another TS package or are the textures purchased
separately? What is Turbo Silver-SV? Thanks in advance.

3471.3 | They're in the -SV version. | DNEAST::SEELEY_BOB | | Mon Apr 30 1990 08:51 | 10 |
| The other textures are in TS-SV (-SV = Stereo Vision). There is also a
kit (in the SV version) which will allow generation of other texture
modules, but requires some C programming experience to use. I
particularly like the wave texture supplied with the newer version.
Supposedly the newer textures will work with the newest (soon to be
released?) IMAGINE product.
