Hiya,

This is my first attempt at zoo etc, so please bear with me.

I've been through all the amiga related conferences, using AVN 
searching on 'ZOO' and 'FISH' and others I can't remember now.

Anyway I have a directory on my VMS machine FF175. I want to UNZOO 
some files.

Hitting $ run VMSZOO gave me :

Usage: zoo {acDeglLPTuUvx}[aAcCdEfInmMNoOpPqu1:/.@n] archive fi
le
("zoo h" for help)

Novice usage:  zoo -cmd archive[.zoo] file...  where -cmd is on
e of these:
-add -extract -move -test -print -delete -list -update -freshen
 -comment

SO, I tried ZOO h and ZOO ?, and various commmmbinations, I got the 
following:

$ run vmszoo h
%DCL-W-MAXPARM, too many parameters - reenter command with fewe
r parameters
 \H\
$ zoo h
%RMS-W-RTB, 512 byte record too large for user's buffer
$ vmszoo h
%DCL-W-IVVERB, unrecognized command verb - check validity and s
pelling

HELP!!!!!Please somebody.

When I sort this out, I'm going to use SOFTPC to copy files onto the 
VAXstations 3 1/2 inch drive, then take the disks home and use PCCOPY 
with the patches, or some other method. Anyone know if this will work?

    You need to define the ZOO command to VMS, like this:
    
        ZOO == "$ dev:[dir]VMSZOO"
    

    Don't panic,
    
    ZOO needs to be defined as a 'foreign' command.
    enter:
    
    	$ ZOO :== $dev:[dir.subdir]zoo.exe
    	$ sho symb zoo
    		the you should see your command
    	$ ZOO -h
    
    		bla, bla
    
    	$
    
    That's all. ARC and many other tools for VMS (GIF2IFF, CLAZ ...)
    followed these rules.
