| Stephan,
The short answer is that you have some homework to do. Look through this
notes conference at the notes about downloading and, perhaps, the notes
about terminal emulators. Your .wrp file is created with a file compression
utility called WARP. You need a copy of it on the Amiga to "dewarp" your
file. To find warp and the other file compressors, zoo and arc and lhwarp
and lharc and zip and ... you will also need to look through this
conference. The information is here, but there is no simple answer.
Besides, if you read through this conference, you'll learn a lot about
the Amiga and "meet" some nice Amiga addicts here.
Good luck,
Dave

| It might be helpful to put some of this information together in a
convenient place, so here's a list of commonly used file types and
which programs you need to unpack them...
File Name Archiver Program
--------- ------------------------
[ File archivers - unpack into device/directory of your choice. ]
.ARC ARC (VMSSWEEP.EXE on VAX)
.ZOO ZOO (VMSZOO.EXE on VAX)
.ZIP PKAZIP (no VAX version)
.LHZ LHARC (no VAX version)
[ Disk archivers - must be unpacked onto blank floppy, producing ]
[ exact duplicate of original disk, including boot block, etc. ]
.WRP WARP, UNWARP
.LHW LHWARP

Stephan, it looks like you've made it over most of the hurdles if you
were able to get something with a .wrp suffix onto a disk.
You next need to download the WARP program from the e-net to your Amiga
and place it in your c: directory. If you have a second floppy, put
the disk with the .WRP file there, and put a freshly formatted floppy
into df0: (WARP will only unpack to df0:)
From the CLI, type 'WARP WRITE <PATH:FILE.WRP>' and the WARPed disk
will unpack itself to df0:.
Likely places to find files on the e-net are TAPE and NORSE. Also,
please upgrade your downloading capabilities to Xmodem or Zmodem.
Kermit is ancient history, and is soooooo slooooowww. You might want
to check out Handshake or VLT for an up-to-date Amiga terminal program.
Lastly, please don't be offended if asked to do a little digging for
information. This is a huge conference, and a little selective
searching can find the answer to almost any question. Just about every
aspect of transferring files to and from a Vax has been covered in more
notes than you'd believe. Good keywords to search for are 'download'
'upload' 'xmodem' 'zoo' 'warp' 'lharc' etc.
Good luck. Ed.
