3393.0. "Sculpt Animate 4D jr. " by SHARE::DOYLE () Thu Jan 25 1990 13:05

	I just purchased "Sculpt Animate 4D jr.", It cost me $23 dollars
 	(I love consignment software!!!!).
	This program is a dream to use compared to Design 3D, wich frustrated
	me no end.
	The shading routines are much better, in fact (I think) the user
	Interface is much better.
        Anyway, I was wondering if there was a library of objects online
	anywhere?

     Also, I wonder if I uploaded my "Videoscape Objects", could someone who has
     the Interchange program convert them to Sculpt 4d Objects?

    							Thanks

3393.2Which Interchange product do I want/need?SHARE::DOYLEMon Jan 29 1990 12:4813
    Seeing the overwhelming response to the above reply :^), how about some-
    one setting me straight on wich "Syndesis" product I need.
     Mail order offers the following:

    	Interchange........
    	Interchange Object..........

     There's also one for Turbosilver conversion.
     Are these just different upgrades, or are they program specific?
     What formats do these programs convert to/from?
    							Thanks

    There's a tremendous selection of Sculpt and Videoscape objects
    available on Plink and Genie.

    I have a few nice Sculpt models that I'll upload when I get the chance.

3393.4Conversions and a LibraryCGOFS::OAKLEYBCNU2Mon Jan 29 1990 17:3927

    I picked up Interchange a few weeks back along with the Turbo Silver
    conversion module.

    The InterChange program will translate Sculpt and VideoScape objects,
    the add-on modules (which do not run standalone) will add translation
    of Turbo Silver and Forms in Flight. The current versions are
    Interchange V1.41 and Turbo module 1.2.

    The only problem I have encountered is the program reporting that I
    have run out of memory when trying to convert an object with about 4100
    points and about the same number of polygons (even though the system
    had about 1.7mb free on a system with a fat agnus, Syndesis is
    interested in the problem but wants a copy of the model).

    If you would like to have objects converted just vaxmail them to me and
    I will accomodate you (as long as you don't mind me keeping a copy if I
    like it). I have been putting together a bit of a library of PD and
    Digital only objects for the past little while and have come up with
    over 100 objects (in VideoScape 3D format), as well as a library of 130
    mathmatically correct objects (with names like dodecahedron). If
    anybody would like to share their objects so I can include them in the
    library I would consider giving access to those I have so far.

    I've thrown together some of the Sculpt objects that I had lying
    around. These include the Juggler and the Starship Enterprise and
    others.

    3DObjects.zoo has been uploaded to TAPE""::USER2:[UPLOAD].

3393.7A whole lot of thankyous....SHARE::DOYLEThu Feb 01 1990 09:2618
	Thanks everyone,

   Thanks Ed. for uploading the objects you have, the enterprise seems pretty
  complicated, it took a long time to load, as well as a "half screen rendering"
  was required in lores in order to view it on my one Meg machine.

   Thanks for the conversion offer Wayne, I'll UL my objects as soon as I
  can get em on a 5.25 disk...
   Would you like them Vaxmailed in "raw" or compressed format, (excuse my
  ignorance- but this will be a first VAXmail of a binary file I've done).

   And thank you Steve, if I create some worth while objects, I'll be sure to
  UL em to Tape::user2:[amiga.objects.sculpt].

    Ed,
    	VAXmailing a binary isn't a good idea. The best way is to zoo the
    objects into one zoo file and copy it to CGOU01"":: to put it into the
    default decnet account and then send me mail to let me know it is
    available. You can send individual files if you wish in the same
    manner. If you send the files in the morning I will likely have the
    objects converted and returned that afternoon (we have a way of calling
    home and up/downloading files and doing things that are CLI only,
    unfortunately Interchange is a big file requestor).

    Thanks for the objects Ed. I translated them in VideoScape 3D and
    uploaded them to TAPE""::user2:[upload] as V3Dobj.zoo, look for them in
    the future in TAPE""::user2:[amiga.objects.videoscape]

    Is there any way to convert them into Turbo-Silver Format??

3393.11timing or whatCGOFS::OAKLEYBCNU2Fri Feb 02 1990 11:598

    Funny you should ask, I just converted them last night. I have sent
    the zoo file to TAPE""::user2:[upload] as ts3obj.zoo. I suspect that
    they will end up in TAPE""::user2:[objects.silver] sometime in the
    future.
