     You have to replace one of the custom chip. If my memory is right I
     think it's the Denise chip. Actually the only difference is the
     revision of the chip. I have done that last year so I will check in
     my system tonight and I will give you the info tomorrow.

    It's the Denise chip. Commodore part number 8362R8.

    The last digit is the revision of the chip, you need a revision higher
    than 6 but to be on the safe side mine works ok and it's a rev 8 so I
    would try to get a rev 8 minimum.

3351.4Denise cost?NAC::BRANNONvalue addedFri Jan 19 1990 10:586
    What's the approximate cost of a Denise chip? I've never really felt
    the lack of halfbrite mode, but now some software that takes advantage
    of it is starting to show up in the stores.

3351.5The Gravepine Group IncMQOFS::LECOMPTEHubert LecompteSun Jan 21 1990 13:389

    I bought my chip at a place call "SYSTEM 5" in bedford MA. I paid
    around $50.00 for it.

    There is an advertisement in the last transactor (OCT 89) on page 69
    for a place call "The gravepine Group Inc" and they ask 56.95 for
    Denise. Their phone numbers are: 800-292-7445 or 914-354-4448.

    re .5:
    One of the chip booths that is a regular at the Computer flea markets
    here in MA had the Denise chip listed at $49 last weekend.

    I was tempted, but couldn't come up with a justification of why I
    needed it. I've seen the half-brite hill demo on a 2000, but somehow
    that demo wasn't inspiring enough to make me want to rush out and get
    a new Denise. Is there a particular application that guided your
    decision?

    thanks,
    dennis
