3342.0. "Handshake and special keyboard keys" by LSNCSC::BLANC (Phil Lausanne-CH SSG DTN 753-2324 16-JAN-1990 09:21) Tue Jan 16 1990 03:33

Hi,

I often use Handshake version V2.12a as terminal emulator and I don't know
which key to press to have the fonctionnality of the F17--> F20 LK keys.
Any ideas ???

and how do I get these chars:

	   .....

(this topic was entered via a normal VT...)

Thanks for any ideas
Phil

    Phill,

I don't know of ANY emulator on the Amiga that support keymaps, I
have tried VT200, VLT and they revert back to the US keyboard. The
only way is to edit the file with CED and transfer it to the VAX, kind
of a pain. In fact it's the only thing I find SERIOUSLY wrong with the
Amiga, this lack of international support by software designers,
    especially American ones.

    Handshake support F17 - F20 by just doing a shift + F7 - F10.

I don't know what character set you need, but I'm using Handshake
right now and can get these characters using the 'right-alt' key.

     #$%^&߫- shift -

     , - shift -
     컧 ̺
                    ͼ

It's not the same as a full time alternate keymap, but perhaps it
    does that also.

Well I lied, I checked how many different characters I could make with
Smokey using the ALT and the SHIFT keys and came up with these:

` 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 - = \
                	<----	alt
                 	<----	alt + shift

q w e r t y u i o p [ ]
            		<----	alt
            		<----	alt + shift

a s d f g h j k l ; '
          		<----	alt
          		<----	alt + shift

z x c v b n m , . /
           		<----	alt
          		<----	alt + shift

This is what VLT does, as you can see it doesn't do as many as Smokey, so it's
use to me is still huge file transfers.

` 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 - = \
               		<----	alt
                 		<----	alt + shift

q w e r t y u i o p [ ]
              			<----	alt
              			<----	alt + shift

a s d f g h j k l ; '
                			<----	alt
                			<----	alt + shift

z x c v b n m , . /
     				<---- alt
            			<----	alt + shift
