3226.1 | I just got mine. | LEDS::BUSCH | Dave Busch at NKS1-2 | Mon Dec 18 1989 16:15 | 16 |
| <<< Note 3226.0 by JGO::CHAPMAN >>>
< Despite writing to them asking for upgrade details for ProWrite,
< I have never heard anything from them. So that I have the ammunition,
< can somebody please also post full details of the upgrade offer
< (front cover of manual?, $$$? , free v3 etc) and details of any
< offers ever received for ProScript.
The deal is, send $20 + $5 S&H to New Horizons (address inside manual) along
with your PROGRAM disk. They will replace both the program and system disks and
include a coupon good for a free update to rev 3.0, when it's available.
I sent in my $25 on December 2nd and my wife phoned me to tell me that the
update arrived today.

3226.2 | I'll phone first! | JGO::CHAPMAN | | Tue Dec 19 1989 03:55 | 9 |
| Thanks for the info.
As I said, I have already written, but no response. Since I'm in
Europe, Iwanted to check the postage price etc. and give them a
blast for not sending me details or answering letters - so I'd still
like the phone number before sending my disc into a potential black
hole!

3226.4 | Slightly different outside US | JGO::CHAPMAN | | Mon Jan 08 1990 09:34 | 10 |
| I phoned them and sent off for it. BUT the message I got from them
was that the deal for customers outside the States is:
- $30 (Ok, an extra five bucks for postage ain't unreasonable)
- NO 3.0 upgrade deal. This pissed me off slightly. I did suggest
that they should make it available for a nominal cost to cover postage,
and the answer was "maybe we will", but definately no committment.

3226.5 | ProWrite 3.0 Has Arrived | ULTRA::KINDEL | Bill Kindel @ BXB1 | Tue May 15 1990 11:34 | 18 |
| I bought ProWrite 2.5 in November, so I wasn't entitled to a free
upgrade to 3.0. When the time came though, New Horizons didn't forget
me and I received the official upgrade offer, which I filled out
immediately and sent in with $55 and my ProWrite 2.5 program disk.
Turnaround was only a couple of weeks, to my surprise. While I believe
ProWrite 3.0 has been priced $30 too high relative to its competition
($180 vs PenPal @150 and Excellence! @200), I am VERY impressed by it.
Obviously, the folks at New Horizons have been paying attention to
their users. They've made significant advances in BOTH user-friendliness
AND functionality. That's no mean feat. As their advertising claims,
"the best just got better".
What's missing? I'd like the graphic editing capability of PenPal (or
of geoPublish on the C=64/128), so I could use ProWrite as a poor-man's
desktop publishing package. ProScript needs to be upgraded to handle
ProWrite 3.0's new functionality (if you don't use the new features, it
still works) and New Horizons is promising an upgrade "real soon now".

3226.6 | Time to ask for mine. | JGO::CHAPMAN | | Wed May 16 1990 12:08 | 11 |
| I was just going to ask if anybody had recived the 3.0 upgrade yet
when I saw -.1.
After writing to New Horizons (see -.2) I did indeed receive my free my
free 3.0 offer with my 2.5. So, it sounds like time to send in the
form!
Not only a good product, but also a good company.
