[The following is a request from digiFeX to post this CORRECT info on the BBS.
 Please distribute and publish.]

There is an error in Jan '90 NAG-RAG (the one that just came out) and I will
correct it here. CMI is dead, dead, dead, d-e-a-d, dead. There is some
confusion as to what digiFeX's role is - here it is:

digiFeX has purchased all of CMI's remaining inventory, plus the rights to
manufacture and distribute the CMI product line under the digiFeX label.
digiFeX will: put CMI (until the existing inventory runs out) and digiFeX
products into distributer and dealer hands. digiFeX will: support the
product that _THEY_ sell (as per receiving warrantee with the digiFeX address
on them). digiFeX will NOT: exchange or replace any products purchased
_FROM_ CMI, nor will they refund any money or hardware owed by CMI. digiFeX
is _not_ affiliated with CMI in any way, shape, or from, and are not
responsible for CMI or CMI's actions. digiFeX will support, guarantee,
warrantee only products sold by them (period). digiFeX will _NOT_ be in
operation until mid Jan, and would APPRECIATE that no one call or write until
an announcement has been made that they are open for business (actually, there
should be no need for anyone to call them, since they have not shipped any
product).

As for people having problems with CURRENT CMI products, you should be able
to get some insight by some of the former employees on here (NAG-BBS
503-288-1918 [or 503-656-7393]) or on PLINK.

As for the status of products that were in development when CMI went out of
business, all except for AppleTalk and the FrameBuffer have been put on hold
by digiFeX. CMI*net will be distributed by digiFeX upon its completion (I am
presently on contract to finish developing it). I do not know the current
state of the FrameBuffer, so I can not speculate on it.

If digiFeX does decide to support the existing CMI customer base, I'm sure
that it will be just phone tech support. (cont)

 Personal comments:

It's terrible when things of this magnitude happen in the Amiga market. CMI
joins the ranks of Ep and Aegis in taking a reformation action, and possibly
even leaving the Amiga market. The employees at CMI were a fun bunch to deal
with (yes, even you Bill S. ;-), and some of us are still trying to find
_real_ jobs (as my mother puts it). What does the future hold for the Amiga
developers? Who knows.

 Bill

If CMI is dead, I for one will not shed a bitter tear. I had purchased
one of their Processor Accelerators, which would not work with a true
DMA disk controller. After about nine months of empty promises of a
fixed version, I gave up and bought a CSA Midget Racer, which has been
    absolutely trouble free.

The last thing the Amiga needs at this time are vendors who promise the
world and deliver nothing. CMI had lots of projects going, and clearly
could not even support their first efforts. If DEC did business this
way, we'd be in deep trouble.

I personally wish their engineers good fortune, but as a business, CMI
    deserves to die.

    re .1

I have an question conserning the CMI PA.
I'm thinking to upgrade my system with GVP's IMPACT SCSI HD controller
with 2 MBytes RAM on it. And the question is does it work correctly
    with the PA or not!!!!!

If anyone has tryit or knows about this kind of setup then PLEASE let
    know your verdict!!!
