| I don't know about The Works,but I own Platnium Scribble which I
think is one of the modules(WP).I feel it is a solid product,that
will get the wrok done.More for heavy text.You may write a book
with it before you would do a newsletter.It does not support graphics
as well as Kindwords and the like,but has a great speller,and
thesaurus.By the way I had recieved one update to scribble free
before I was offered an update to the Platnium edition.What version
did the dealer have experiance with ? THE WORKS has been around
a very long time,and has improved greatly.I think Paul M. had a
note in this conference somewhere.

| As Bill said, The works has been around for a long time. As such,
the developers have enhanced the package. Version 2 The Works (if
you can call it that) is variously called; The Works, platinum edition;
The Platinum Works, Platinum editon of The Works; etc
The question is, have the developers stopped supporting The Works?
If they have, then this could explain why the dealer couldn't/wouldn't
sell you the old version.
The platinum edition of The Works was recently reviewed in the Amiga
trade mags. I believe that the review was very favourable.

| They may have stopped selling "The Works," but the latest incarnation of
MSS's integrated package is called "The Works - Platinum Edition."
I've used it for several months, and it is apparently bug-free. At
least, I haven't encountered any.

3211.4 | THE WORKS - Anyone sell me one please ? | AYOU27::JBECK | Jim Beck | Mon Dec 18 1989 07:57 | 19 |
| I don't know if there is a FOR WANTS note as opposed to a FOR SALE, but
here goes.
I have discovered that THE WORKS seems to being withdrawn and replaced
by the PLATINUM WORKS.
This is very nice if you have at least 150 crisp folding notes, but
some of us have just bought an Amiga(you know what I mean ?)
Is there anyone out there who has perhaps upgraded from their original
copy of THE WORKS who would be interested in selling the disks and
manuals ?
I would also pay postage if it comes from across the waves....
Looking forward to some response.
By the way, THE WORKS was advertised for sixty pounds sterling when I
looked recently in AUI (November).

| Hello everybody... best wishes for the New Year to you all, and may all
system failures be someone else's.
Just to let you know I have located a seller of THE WORKS, so please
ignore 3211.4

3211.6 | The Works-Part2 | SIOG::WOODS | | Thu Apr 04 1991 05:58 | 13 |
| When I bought my A500 I bought a copy of the Works with it. I didn`t
get much of a chance to use it, Scribble in my opinion was an ok wp
I thought the worksheet was good however I haven`t seen other ws on
the A500. Not long after I had the Works I got a virus in the A500
(cheap game I think) it wiped all my disks including Workbench and
The Works. I went back to my dealer to see if I could get a copy
(I know copying is illegal but I felt I was justified after what
happened plus the fact I have the the three books and box with no disk)
However my dealer informed me that the works was withdrawn so I`m now
I`m looking for a copy of either The Works or The Works Platnium
Edition. Help me please !

3211.9 | Boot block copies maybe? | STAR::ROBINSON | | Mon Apr 08 1991 12:24 | 8 |
| I don't think you are going to get someone to just give you copies
of the program for ethical reasons. However, if you find someone
who has the program, you might be able to get them to save the boot block
with one of the boot block saver programs (Fish disks) and provide you
with new boot blocks for your existing disks. This assume your virus
trouble affected the boot block(s), of course.

| At this stage I`m willing to buy a copy of Platnium Works so if theres
someone out there willing to sell me a copy (bad word) package give me
a shout. I`m willing to pay packaging & postage (I don`t have much of
a choice). My apologies earlier on as I didn`t realise Platnium Works
was a complete new package.
Cheers Woody
Ps.Does anyone one have a phone no. for Mss (British Isles)

3211.11 | mail in the card | SALEM::LEIMBERGER | | Tue Apr 09 1991 07:13 | 11 |
| MSS is very good about updates. If you have your card in the box do
this.
Take card form box.
mail card.
You will get a reply , This company has been around awhile. I
really don't think it matters to them how long you have been sitting
on a card. They also are very good about applying credit toward
upgrading to a program like the works. I own the platnium version of
Scribble but never use it. It is a solid product, but I do mostly DTP
using PPage,and the built in Article Editor.
