| How much is cheap ???
I saw one advertised in a Mag for 49.50 (pounds) which was a stereo one
which came with software, cables, etc. I can't remember the name off
hand but the price seemed quite reasonable.
Has anyone used one and if so what do you think ???

I've got the Perfect Sound package (around $50) and its a good
product.
Like the way it does digitization, cut/paste, sampling, etc...
and its also the only one I've seen generally offered.
Nits....
It doesn't show a realtime sample display as you take
the sound. (My friends over at Apple gave me grief
on this when they showed me theirs. I let them have
it when they quoted me a cost that was triple the price)
You have to use a dial on the box to vary gain, and the
box plugs into the parallel slot.
So....
I'd buy the new version V 3.0 cuz it:
1. Lets you change the gain with a slider on-screen
2. Has both RCA inputs for whatever, and a MIC input
3. During monitor mode it does put up a realtime
display of the input.
P.S. If I buy the latest version mine may go on sale!

Thanks for the input, I have'nt got the spec with me on the one I was
looking at but will put it in when I bring the mag in.
Let me know if you do decide to sell the perfect sound package.

I have Perfect Sound 3.0, and I think it's great. The only nits I have
are:
1) It has an irritating tendency to hang at times.
2) It needs a realtime playback from disk capability. (Maybe it's
there, but I just haven't found it yet.)

3201.7 | Sound Sample Archive? | WILARD::BARRETT | Wait'll they get a load of me | Tue Jan 02 1990 21:52 | 6 |
| As a quick side question ---
Is there a "sound sample" archive somewhere? There are
many "classic" samples (3 stooges, HAL, BATMAN, etc)
that would be nice to keep in one place.
