3072.0. "Dungeon Master Save Problem" by SHIRE::FITZGERALD (A change is as good as a rest) Mon Nov 06 1989 03:24

    Having a problem with my new 1 Meg Dungeon Master running on a 2-drive
    B2000. The game works fine, but when I try to save, it asks me to
    put my save disk in DF1, then tells me that the disk is unreadable.
    I then use the DM built-in format option. It then tells me that
    there is no disk in the drive, followed by telling me that the disk
    is unreadable. I have tried 5 different disks.

    Playing DM without saving is not really on!

    I have had no problem with this drive. It still works perfectly
    with all other programs.

    Anyone had this problem? Do I have to send the disk back?

3072.1What version is it?YUPPIE::WILSONTonyMon Nov 06 1989 08:545
    I had a similar problem with a copy of DM that I bought. Not only
    would it not save, it also GURUed after a certain point in the program.
    I returned it for a new copy and discovered that the first one was an
    old version. The latest version I know about is V2.0 (it shows in the
    upper left corner of the screen).
3072.2I'll check..SHIRE::FITZGERALDA change is as good as a restTue Nov 07 1989 03:395
    I'll have to check the version. I got it three weeks ago, and it
    was guaranteed to be the latest. I bought using a Visa card from
    Castle SW in the UK. Interestingly they do not give any sort of
    receipt, so it will be difficult to prove purchase date when returning
    to the US (If necessary).
3072.3Dungeon Master Write Routine BugBANKS1::TAYLORTue Nov 07 1989 09:187

    I've encountered the same problem with my recently purchased Dungeon
    Master I purchased at system eyes here in Nashua. Thanx for the
    info., I'm returning mine asap.

3072.4Back it goesSHIRE::FITZGERALDA change is as good as a restThu Nov 09 1989 03:204
    There is no version number on my screen, manual or disk. I will
    send the disk back, and hope.

3072.5What is this? Anyway!CREKE::DUDMANMon Nov 13 1989 00:367
    Hello DM'ers,

    The problem previously mentioned happened to me also. The disk
    is bad and you'll need a new copy. After version 2.0 the feature
    is fine and I have had no problems with the disk at least (the
    monsters are another story).

3072.6Version is on the requestorJGO::CHAPMANWed Nov 15 1989 03:2410
    Mine is v2.0 and I've had no problems.

    The version number appears ONLY on the requestor boxes that appear
    when you load/save a game (top right corner), so MAy only refer
    to that part of the software.

    Presntly stuck on level 12 and its getting tricky....

3072.7Why Me?NEST::CURRYMon Apr 08 1991 21:307
    Could the "problem version" possibly be version 2.2 ? It would
    be just my luck! I just got this game 2 weeks ago and I'm already
    having troubles. I keep getting interupted by a message that tells
    me that there is a software problem and that I should click on the
    right mouse button to continue.......
