| The only paperwork I needed for my DF03: was a property removal
pass.As for what is available ,and what do you need for justification
It has been my experiance that this is determined by the powers
that be. (ie: your manager)

| I suspect that each location will have different rules, but
here you can loan almost anything, it requires a property removal
pass signed by the cost center manager who owns the equipment.
You have up to six months, and then have to renew (fill another
property pass & signatures, no need to bring the equipment back) if
you want to keep it for a longer time.

Since loaned equipment is approved by the cost center manager and
comes out of the cost center's budget, choices may be limited!

| Plus the cost center manager usually wants a justification of why
you need a loan of that particular equiment.
Try justifying why you need a loan of a LJ250 color printer without
saying the word "Amiga"... 8^).

| Being a cost center manager, I allow any engineer the use of a VT
series terminal and modem at home. If you occasionally do work
releated stuff from home I allow a 2400 baud modem.
The only other equipment allowed home is surplus or obsolete
(unuseable) equipment, RD52's, LA50's, etc. All equipment must
be signed out on a property removal pass and returned or renewed
every 6 months.
For equipment that breaks, it must be returned to Digital to be
repaired. If it is obsolete we do not repair it and sometimes
it is cheaper to replace equipment than have it repaired. by
field service. In any case we do not buy equipment for non-work
related use.
I would love to have a LJ250 at home, but can't justify brining
the only LJ250 in the office at home. I would be willing to
honor next day delivery for requests queued to my home system...
Maybe someday LJ250's will be like LA50's.

| I work with a VT102 on my desk and a PC100+ at home. I have a modem
promised as well.
I'ld just like a printer, even an LA50 will do.
I'm going to stand here and stamp my feet till I get one, so there!
Dave.
