3011.0. "AMIGA on TV TONIGHT." by LINCON::MGAINES () Wed Oct 11 1989 13:58

I just got of the AMIGA_SYS notes file and discoverd a note
indicating that at 7:00 pm eastern time Entertainment Tonight
will be showing off the AMIGA'S abilities. Just thought I'd
pass this along for anyone wishing to see it.

I watched the October 11 ET and saw absolutely no mention of the Amiga.
This was in Colorado Springs at 6 pm EDT.

Nothing out here in the People's Republic of Mass, either. What gives?

Don't know about the rest of you guys, but two consecutive nights of
watching Mary Smart is all I can take!
(Thank goodness for that fast forward button).

Yeah, after a good meal, that drek is more like 'Indigestion Tonight'.

By the way, I'll be glad to send a VHS format tape of the commercials
(if they ever do air) over the pond to <CB> and friends.

3011.6I missed it... or did I?LINCON::MGAINESThu Oct 12 1989 10:305

Sorry fellas, all I did was pass on what I read on AMIGA_SYS.
I fell asleep, so if it was on here in Atlanta, I missed it...

See also notes 2844 and 2903. The original posting to Usenet a
couple of months ago said that the ET feature on the new Amiga
commercials would be spread over 5 nights starting October 16.
Then Commodore's Dave Haynie said Tuesday. Then, "no, Wednesday!"
    So who knows for sure?

After two nights of taping ET, my wife thinks my tase in TV shows
has really gone downhill. :-) :-)

Apparently there was something on last night only the show was USA
Today rather than Extra Terrible. I didn't see it but some people
mentioned it on USENET. Seems it was about 30 secs long. Not many
comments though. Did anyone here see it?

I think it's still expected on ET. I don't think this was a mixup
    of the two shows.

Last night in the wee hours of the morning the "Usa Today" television
show carried a two minute or so long segment on one of the new
Amiga commercials. The commercials are too good to spoil for those
of you who don't yet know the story-line and participants, so I'll
limit the details.

Before they broke for their commercial, the USA Today announcers
said that a look at Tip O'Neill's latest endorsement was upcoming.
When they returned, they showed several clips from the new Commodore
Amiga commercial, which included glimpses of a couple of the celebs
that are featured. Two prominent shots of Our Favorite Computer
in action were shown, including the end of the ad which features
an Amiga playing an animation while the words "Commodore Amiga" appear
beside it, and a voice says the new slogan.

They mentioned that the ad campaign cost $15 Million and that the ads
were produced by George Lucas' production company. As an amusing
note, they said that the ads were to promote "Commodores new(!) Amiga
computer".

Meanwhile, in print, yesterday's (October 11) USA Today newspaper carried
about a five inch column (plus photo) on the Amiga ad campaign (page 7B).
