I suggest you go to "The Memory Location". It's about a 45 min
drive from Marlboro.
Directions from Marlboro
Go South on I495 to Mass Pike ( I 90 ).
Mass Pike East to rt 128.
rt 128 South to rt 16.
rt 16 East - Memory location on left side of road.
Better directions can be found in this notes file.

The two dealers I know of are the "The Memory Location" and "The Software Shop".
"The Memory Location" will let you try out software and has a lot of services.
"The Software Shop" is cheaper but is not as helpful or friendly is in downtown
Worcester. You can see their ads in several magazines.

Note 833.* discusses Boston-area Amiga dealers, though it's become a
bit dated.
I agree with Steve (.1) that you should visit the Memory Location in
Wellesley. I think the hours are 9-5 Mon-Sat except Friday evening
when they're open until 8pm.
Steve's directions are just a bit off. Let me recap.
Interstate 495 to Mass Pike (I90) EASTbound.
Mass Pike east to Route 128/I95 SOUTHbound (Exit 14).
Route 128/I95 south to Route 16 (Washington St.) WESTbound (Exit 21).
Route 16 west (actually southwest) 1 miles, crossing over Route 9.
Route 16 west another half mile to Forest St. (the 3rd traffic light)
The Memory Location is in the row of shops on the far corner.
Turn LEFT onto Forest and RIGHT into the parking lot behind the shops.
Enjoy!

| A couple of others:
Bit Bucket on Rt. 20 in Sudbury. Not the best prices nor best support
level, but close by. They carry a moderate selection of Amiga products
along with IBM and Atari stuff, priced usually 10%-15% off list.
OmniTek in Tewksbury (take I495 north to Rt. 38 [Exit 38], then south a
couple of miles). Their prices and support generally fall somewhere
between Memory Location (best support, higher prices) and Software Shop
(minimal support, lowest prices).

AMIGA sale-week at the NEWTON (only) location. Said
there'd be Commodore reps etc.. (I think, read the ad
if you really care).
Sale is this week, all week I think.

Saturday 9 AM to 5 PM
On Friday evening and Saturday Afternoon, a lot of Amiga users hang out at the
Memory Location. You can get lots of useful help that way. Also, they will
take back open software if there are problems with it. (Including the program
doesn't do what you expected it to.)

Thanks for correcting the hours. What I gave was clearly a SWAG.
BTW, the Memory Location has already started the Christmas Amiga
promotion. If you look at the $1200 A500 package, you'll see the free
software package and coupon book ($500 worth of manufacturer rebates)
have been included. The official start date is October 16, but since
they've gotten the stuff in, they figured they might as well start.
Now, if only I could find an A590...

Thanks for the help guys...
I went down to the memory location on Saturday and found it without any problems
thanks to your directions. I stayed most of the day looking at what they had and
playing with a 2500. I couldn't believe my eyes , I've never seen a shop totally
devoted to just the Amiga before , things like that don't exist in Ireland :-)
I stumbled across the Bit Bucket on Rt20 all by myself by accident last week ,
I was driving down Rt20 when I saw the sign and the name sounded familiar (I
must have read about here before) so I stopped for a look.
I also went looking for the Software shop in Worcester but couldn't find it ,is
it possible it's moved ?

re .9
The Software Shop is very hard to find. The current location
is 10 Front Street.
Front Street is a very short street in downtown Worcester. The
street intersects main street goes about 2 blocks. This small curved
street goes to the main entrance to the Gallaria ?sp Mall.
10 Front street is a small group of stores call downtown Mall.
the entrance is next to a video game arcade. The Software Shop is
down stairs ( in the basement ). If you think your in the wrong place
your going the right direction.

| There's a parking garage directly across the street from the Centrum.
If you park there ($2.00), follow their "to stores" signs. As you
leave the parking structure, turn right. You should see a small street
straight ahead, running toward Main St. Go down the left side of this
street, half a block or so, to the "mall" entrance. Software Shop is
downstairs.

I think that's Midtown Mall.

What does this translate to? [curiosity] What is the nebulous 'free software
package'?

What I know is sketchy, at best. It seems to contain a word processor,
a paint program and a couple more applications.
Nor do I have details on who the companies are in the rebate coupon
book or what the time limit is on the use thereof.

I went to the sale for a few minutes on Saturday. They had a good selection of
software and 30% off. This is just about the same as mail order prices, so I
got a few things.
I think they are trying to draw customers from the Memory Location
Their ads say "oldest Amiga dealer in the area" & "We want
your business"
The funny part was the Commodore rep. for their special sale week
is/was an employee at The Memory Location. He looked a little different
in a Commodore-blue blazer, but he learned his stuff at the Memory
Location, when the Bit Bucket was pushing the Atari and ignoring the Amiga...
There were a number of good demos going. I didn't get names of them,
but I haven't heard much about demos in this conference lately.
Are we up-to-date?
re: .8
They had a C= A590 hard drive for the A500. I forgot to ask if they had them
in stock, but the sale week price was $675.
