There is tool that will do what you want on:
NORSE::AMIGA:[upload]iff2ps20.zoo

Mike: See note 2904.0, which points to IFF2PS version 2.0.
Also, CLAZ is another IFF to PS converter that also runs on the Amiga
OR on a VAX. The advantage of converting on the VAX is that you can
upload a compressed IFF file in ARC or ZOO format, uncompress it on the
VAX and then do the conversion. PostScript files are quite large and
thus less convenient to upload.
Look in Norse for the latest IFF2PS program, and CLAZ is most likely
available on TAPE or other popular hangouts. If you can't find it,
I'll let you copy it from my directory, which is currently protected.

Well, don't take it so harsh Ed, I have the advantage to run notes
on the VT220 and usually have the A500 ready at the VMS prompt.
So a quick "dir norse""::amiga:[upload]" on the Amy after remembering
having it seen there while already typing in the beginning of the
reply did the trick. ;-) ;-)
But you mentioned CLAZ and I didn't knew it also runs on the VMS
side, so take pride in that. ;-) ;-)

| And I have a bunch of windows here on WJG, one of which is NOTES. Amiga Notes
is just a couple clicks away...
Besides Ed, You always have all the info, <CB> and I just hack at the
questions :-)

| What do you need to make CLAZ work properly? I tried taking a lorez
IFF picture transfered onto the VAX and converting it to PS and
all I got was a 500 block file of capital Fs and 5s, what gives?

Maybe I misunderstood what you are saying, but the only
way to see your IFF picture converted to postscript is by printing
it on a postscript printer (LN03R or LPS40 in DEC) or getting access
to a workstation with a postscript previewer installed. You'll only
see a bunch of commands and characters with no sense if you use
anything else. BTW, even if you send your file to print on a LN03R
or LPS40, make sure you send it to the postscript queue. Your
system manager should tell you how to do it. I've seen hundreds
of pages wasted because somebody "sent" a ps file to a wrong
destination.

2961.9 | Still miffed | MQOFS::DESROSIERS | Lets procrastinate....tomorrow | Fri Sep 29 1989 12:04 | 13 |
| This is what I get when I run CLAZ, the first part looks like something
postscript could understand, but the FFFFFs don't, is this OK?
BTW I did send it to a PS queue.

| This is correct. CLAZ translates all colors into one of 16 grey shades.
Each bit is then represented by a 0..F character. This is why the postscript
file is MUCH larger than the IFF one. I modified CLAZ a long time ago to work
with VMS and it is not very robust at understanding IFF formats and image
sizes. It does work fine for normally sized screen images though 320x200,
320x400, 640x200, 640x400.
