"two manufacturers" ??
I know of at least 4 different cards and more comming each day.
I own an CMI multiport card. It has 2 serial, 1 parallel, and an
optional SCSI port. One serial port has a 8pin Din connector that
is Mac compatible and the other port has a 9 pin AT connector.
It comes with software that lets you use the CMI board or the
Amiga port for PRT: . They also have AppleTalk network software
"comming soon" ( it has been shown at trade shows ).The optional
SCSI port is a non-DMA simple ( slow ) port. It does come with a
auto boot ROM and the standard hard disk utilities.
I also looked at the ASDG dual serial port board. It has two
serial ports and the same software features as the CMI board. It
also cost about 50% more than the CMI board. It did look like it was
higher quality.
As for the others, I have not had the chance to look at them.

| Could we get some comparison reviews (features, problems, price)
posted here? I wasn't even aware of the card mentioned in .1
I would like to get 2 or more additional posts for my system, but
some of the additional features of some cards are interesting.

2915.3 | I Use an ASDG DSB | DICKNS::MACDONALD | WA1OMM 7.093/145.05/223.58 AX.25 | Thu Sep 14 1989 10:46 | 10 |
| I've been using an ASDG Dual Port serial board in my 2000 for several
months now. As a matter of fact, I am running four ports now. I have an
internal 2400xi modem from Supra with its own port (which I am on now).
I have a Scholar hooked up to the serial port, a Kantronics KAM TNC
connected to DSB Port 0 running TCP/IP on 144.91 MHz, and a dualport
Kantronics KPC-4 TNC running AX25 Packet on 145.05/223.58 MHz. All this
is happening simultaneously (thank god for the fat aggie so I can run
all these terminal programs in 8 color mode!!).
No probs with the DSB board.

I am TRULY impressed!

2915.5 | From CBM, too | FRAMBO::BALZER | Christian Balzer DTN:785-1029 | Thu Sep 14 1989 12:41 | 10 |

And there's the A2232, a seven port serial card from CBM (yet to
be released). It features it's own 6502 CPU and some RAM, to offload
the Amiga. The ports are driven by standard chips so they range
from 300 to 19200 bps. This sucker is mostly targeted for the AMIX
environment...
