Well, we know what Ed would *like* the priority's to be :-), but

I suspect he's got the wife, baby, Amiga, Car.

I dunno, you can buy a lot of Amiga's with a Porsche, eh Ed? ;-)

Congratulations!

The baby is first until he spits formula into your keyboard during a 3:00 AM
feeding. Mine is 12 weeks old so I get to play with my Amiga all night
( not that I'm very productive with it due to the terminal sleep
deprivation ;^o -zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz )

    Congrats Ed

now you'll appreciate the Amiga. You'll have something to do
when the baby wakes you up in the middle of the night. On the
other hand, I bet you're up lotsa nights already because of Amy.

Oh yes, congratulations to your wife also!

Thanks to all you well-wishers. Having a kid is an experience that,
well, just has to be experienced.

It IS surprising how one's priorities change; I went out to buy
SimCity to help pass away the wee hours, and came back with a Teddy
    Bear instead.

So don't be surprised if you see me posting notes etc at strange hours.

    Ed.

Hmmmm. Whatcha doing up late at night? Our 3 month old little one
has been sleeping from 9pm to 6:30am for a month now. :-) (Don't hit
    me, Ed.)

Congrats Ed. I know full well what you are feeling now. (Though how
you could pass up SimCity in favor if a Teddy Bear, is beyond me. :-)

Excuse my ignorance, I know what a teddy is but what's SimCity
and why is it better than a teddy?

Yeah, congrats from the other side of the pond, too.

Now, what the heck are you going to do with the teddy?
I don't believe that you'll ever get update notices or bug fixes
    on such a product... ;-)

What Ed's not telling us is that Teddy is no ordinary teddy. It has an
RS232 port and speaks through the amiga!

    re: .7

Ed is obviously too new a father for all the effects of sleep
    deprivation to hit. :-)

One's priorities do change. The time spent in front of the Amiga
tends to have more forethought put into it and becomes a more, um,
purposeful experience after Baby arrives. Until, of course, the
urchin's favorite reaction when going into the basement is "Keyboard!"
    :-) ;-)

2856.19A new tradition?ULTRA::KINDELBill Kindel @ BXB1Fri Aug 25 1989 15:299
Congratulations to all you new fathers (present and future)!

We need to start a new tradition around here. The baby usually gets a
lot of neat (often inappropriate) stuff for living through the ordeal
and the mother often does also. What does the father get? Answer, the
    hospital bill.

I'd suggest giving the father a plastic keyboard cover. Heaven knows
Ami will appreciate it when those sticky little fingers come near.

    Hey John,

we can only assume that everybody whose reading this is big and ugly
enough to understand what one action can lead to....

Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more...

    Congrate ed and family.

We just had number two a few months ago.

Just do not teach your kid what the delete key is for and if you do
never walk away from the Amiga with a long unfiled document on the
screen. You would be surprised how fast the auto repeat delete
    works!!!

Your reaction to fatherhood warms the cockles of my heart... any
minute now (literally) I expect to get a call, hurry home, and go
through it all myself, for the fourth time! There's more than one
way to grow the installed-base of Amiga users in the world!!

PS. You know what AMIGA means in Spanish ?
-> friend (female), commonly refers to the "girl-friend" or
"mistress". Sure ! I'm having fun reading these notes...

My 4 year old came within 10 points of my best score at Amoeba.
After putting him to bed, my wife played with Deluxe Paint 'till
    midnight.

Hey. This is supposed to be MY toy! (well, there are several
    unattended teddy bears...).

My 2 year old just enjoys typing on the keyboard (plastic covers
are not NEARLY enough protection, perhaps 6 inches of foam..)

Yes, you put more thought into your playtime before hand and you
get grumped at for not coming to bed earlier.

But its all fun (the family part too). Though I often feel that
the "congrats on the new baby" should come with a dash of
"condolences" too, (parenthood isn't so much bad or good, it's
    just intense).

    Yours

Congratulations from the 'Wild West' (Colorado)!
About kids...they're great when you can get them to bed early, but
when you are ...ummm..over 40 and the daughter is 17...she can stay
awake longer than you! (...I just get up EARLIER now!)

    :-)

    Congrats!
