2841.1 | It's a bug... | FRAMBO::BALZER | Christian Balzer DTN:785-1029 | Fri Aug 18 1989 11:57 | 11 |
| That's a bug in the ROM (1.2, 1.3) that will be fixed in 1.4.
Since this bug is timing/speed problem, it goes away if you use
a 68020 card like the A2620 (expensive solution ;-).
On the other hand there is very small utility posted on UseNet a
while ago that will reset your PAL Amiga if it booted up in NTSC
mode. I'll make that beast available on monday and give you the
location is this topic.

It's here in the US on WJG::AMIGA: now too.
BTW - Any chance of running PAL on an NTSC machine? I'd love a few extra
lines :-)

2841.4 | But who'll need it there? ;-) | FRAMBO::BALZER | Christian Balzer DTN:785-1029 | Tue Aug 22 1989 09:18 | 13 |

Well, if you have a "Super Agnus" (1MB) John, yes. You'll also need
a monitor capable of displaying a PAL signal. Multisync should do
fine. There's one jumper pad on the motherboard you'll have to change,
but I currently don't recall which. It's the TEST pin of the Agnus
that gets switched.
Under 1.4 (still faaaaar away) you'll be able to switch display
modes under software control...

Well, since I'm waiting for 1.4 to get ECS and a Multi-Sync, guess I'll have
it then.
What's the PAL resolutions for ECS?

2841.6 | No difference... | FRAMBO::BALZER | Christian Balzer DTN:785-1029 | Wed Aug 23 1989 03:59 | 17 |
| Re: .5
Uh, the same as today... ;-)
Not enough info? Oh well...
PAL display resolutions:
Standard 320/640 by 256/512, plus respective overscan,
i.e. 704 by 560.
Please note that the non-interlaced display rate is 50Hz, so interlaced
at 25Hz looks more yuckie than NTSC stuff at 30Hz.
As far as (not yet finally defined!) new display modes with ECS
are concerned, they'll be the same, too.
