Reproduced from 'Amiga computing' without permission, but crediting the source. I have not typed the whole article. Any further info', speculation, etc from you Amiga wizards out there.? "The Amiga 3000 is shaping out to be an amazing workstation. Based on the fast 68030 processor, it will still be Amiga compatible but unlike the A2500 it will not have a 68000. This means any program which does not run on a 68020/68030 machine - something which uses self-modifying code - will not work on an Amiga 3000. The machine is in the earley stages of development, so ideas such as individual serial numbers in each machine now being discussed may not make it to the final release..." Angus

I said it once, and I'll say it as often as necessary: "Discussion of pre-pre announcent rumors will hurt us all!" By talking about things like 1.4, the A3000, younameit today, we will produce a very dangerous atmosphere of expactation in the user community. Remember 1.3??? The only deadlines Commodore didn't match with 1.3 where those of magazines and a majority of users. Developers (like me) were well aware how far away 1.3 still was and how good a job on quality asurance CBM did on it. Regards, <CB> | |||||

Re: .2 As soon as other computer manufacturers start releasing technical details (that did cost them money to develop) months or years BEFORE they can hope to ship the system, CBM will probably do the same. Why does everybody expect CBM to run around and shout "We've put this and that in" whilst companies like Apple will sue you to death for leaking similar informations to the public... All in it's due time. <CB> |
