My Amiga 500 had to go back a number of times for power supply failures. It now had to go back for disk failures and I got it in return recently. It now seems to work OK but I have the impression that there is something wrong with the memmory size. I think I remember that I was doing disk copies (with copiers like Marauder, Quicknible etc..) in about two swaps (source and target disk). I now have to do seven swaps, one every nine tracks. I am dreaming about the past, or does my machine not recognize its 512 K memory? Is there a command that allows me to check the accessible memory size? Regards

If you've upgraded to the v1.3 system software, there is a command called 'AVAIL' in the c: directory that returns the amount of chip and fast ram available, and also reports the largest contiguous block. By the way, a non-interlaced WB screen and two floppies will automatically eat about 90+ Kbytes of chip ram. Ed. |
