| You can back TETRIS up with NIB. There's a parameter for it.
Tetris certianly could have been better for the Amiga but my family
still loves it. Very addictive game. Funny, I had never heard of it
until my daughter told me she plays all the time on a PC at school.
When we got it for the Amiga she remarked at how much better the Amiga
version was. We've never seen it on the MAC.

2733.8 | Spectrum Holobyte vs. the rest of us | FENRYS::mwm | Mike (Real Amigas Have Keyboard Garages) Meyer | Fri Jul 13 1990 17:47 | 22 |
| Spectrum Holobyte claims the rights to distrubte Tetris and variations in
the US. Their contract almost certainly requires them to defend those rights.
As such, they claim that all the PD Tetris's distributed by Fred Fish violate
their rights. They did not say exactly _what_ right was being violated -
copyright or patent. Fred, not being in a position to fight this claim,
just pulled those things from distribution.
It's not clear whether or not SH can get a judge to agree that those
games violate their rights. Of course, given what judges have done
recently, it's not clear they can't.
In any case, there's no legal precedent either way, and no way to become
that precedent if SH doesn't find out about it. In any case, if you've got
a copy, it probably 1) runs better than the SH stuff, with 2) more options.
And it's pretty clear that you aren't going to have legal problems, unless
you try and distribute them.
Now for a comment: Obsessomatic seems to be the only one of the tetris variants
(licensed or not) that runs well on an accellerated 2.0 machine.

This time its WJG::AMIGA::TETRIX11.ZOO...ANAL/RMS shows 2 errors...anyone
else have a copy somewhere? I'm copying a to single drive 500 so copying a
while FF disk is WAY-OUT...

Re: .9
The file isn't corrupt per se, but the format is incorrect for Kermit.
I've got the same file on CRISTA::AMIGA: and even though RMS complains,
it downloads fine. The file is in Stream Line-Feed format, so you must
convert it to fixed-length records for Kermit to download it properly.
Use CVTARC (or similar) to convert it, or use XMODEM to download it in
its current form. Better yet, use ZMODEM and forget all about the
different file formats; it doesn't care!
