2675.0. "Mountlist for ST251, A2090A?" by MEMORY::BERKSON (What do they make scratch from?) Fri Jun 23 1989 00:48

Could someone who has succesfully run an ST-251 with an A2090A post
    their mountlist here? Thanks.

Would the mountlist for an ST-251 with an A2090 (non-auto-boot)
controller work? If so, I'll upload mine.

Please upload. I'm sure it will help.

Okay, here it is. I don't have an entry for DH0: as the claim is that
that is mounted by the A2090. I believe it take the first four (0-3)
cylanders. Anyway, this is the mountlist for my fast filesystem partition
(the rest of the disk). DH0 does not show up when I use info unless I
explicitly type "MOUNT DH0" beforehand. I usually don't, and have nothing
on that partition.

2675.4Software error during formatNEPTUN::BERKSONWhat do they make scratch from?Mon Jun 26 1989 11:1212
I think I have the mountlist right now, but still seem to have trouble
formatting. I've formatted dh0: with no problem and split the rest of
the disk into two equal partitions. When I format them I get "Software
error - task held..." at random cylinders in the format. After the
error, the Amiga locks up and I have to reset it (or it does it itself
when I push the left mouse button). Sometimes this happens near the
beginning of the partition and sometimes near the end. Once
it went all the way through, but I found I needed a bigger dh0:, so had
to redo it. Could anyone suggest why I'm seeing all these software
    error messages? Thanks.

2675.5is resistor ECO installed?FSCORE::KAYEHe who dies with the most toys is deadMon Jun 26 1989 13:366
Sounds like the same type of errors i had without the 'resistor
fix' (see my note on Harddrive & memory problems). A quick check
is to look for a resistor added to U605 (just left of the extra
CPU connector).

    re .5:

I looked at the chip and it had no resistor, but the article to which
you referred said the resistor was only needed for Signetics chips.
Since I have a TI cheap, I didn't add it.

Instead I formatted until it worked which, surprisingly, didn't take too
long. Things seem to work fine for now, though I'd still like to know
    why the formatting is flakey.
