*** Special Pricing on MICROBOTICS Hardware *** I know someone who works for Microbotics, so I can get the following deals on their hardware products for the Amiga... As you will see, most if not all of these prices beat mailorder prices including Abel Supply. If anyone is interested in purchasing anything, I will organize a group order for everyone. Tell me what you want by sending mail to NOVA::ARNOLD. I will only accept money orders or bank checks for any order. I have to convert the whole order to one large cashiers check and I can't wait for personal checks to clear the bank. ** The prices shown include UPS shipping to your address ** I will handle any defective merchandise that needs to be returned to the manufacturer. -Jeff ====================================================================== StarBoard2 Products for the AMIGA 500 and 1000 1200 Starboard2/1000 (0K) $235.00 5200 StarBoard2/500 (0K) $235.00 1210 SB2 Upper Deck (0K) $ 45.00 1220 SB2 Multifuction Module $ 65.00 1230 SB2 StarDrive SCSI Module $ 90.00 ====================================================================== 8UP! MEMORY PRODUCTS for the AMIGA 2000 2150 8-UP! DIP RAM Card (0M) $ 165.00 (2M) add $ 340.00 (4M) add $ 680.00 (6M) add $1020.00 (8M) add $1360.00 This is the new version of 8UP! that uses conventional DRAM chips, instead of costly SIMM modules. You can populate it in increments of 2 megabytes, up to 8 meg. NOTE: It looks like Microbotics recently raised their list price on this board from $199 to $239, so any mailorder ads that you see listing this board for less than $165 probably aren't valid anymore. ====================================================================== HARDFRAME DRIVE CONTROLLER for the AMIGA 2000 2700 HardFrame DMA SCSI $225.00 2710 HardFrame w/o metal bracket $205.00 (you don't need the metal bracket if you mount the hard drive in the front drive bay, instead of directly on the HardFrame card) ======================================================================

2639.1 | How is that Memory price? | CIMNET::KYZIVAT | Paul Kyzivat | Wed Jun 14 1989 19:29 | 9 |
The price quoted in .-1 works out to about $21/chip. Is this reasonable? An earlier note indicated that chip prices are now starting to fall. Have there been any reports on the quality of this version of the 8UP board? In other words, is there any reason to go with a more expensive board from another source? Paul
2639.2 | Cutoff date is June 23rd | NAVCOM::ARNOLD | Thu Jun 15 1989 10:44 | 5
If you are interested in any of the Microbotics products, please let me know by Friday, June 23rd. I will place the order the following week. -Jeff

Just a pitch for the MicroBotics Hardframe DMA controller... this unit was rated tops by AmigaWorld, even better than CBM's own A2090A controller. This unit never slows down, even while heavily multitasking or using severe overscan video. It's actually about the nicest component in my whole A2000 system. Ed.

I agree with Ed. I have been pleased with the performance of my Hardframe + ST296N combination. The only negative thing the AmigaWorld article said about the Hardframe was that the installation software prompted you for all the drive configuration parameters, for which it already new the defaults. I did not consider the questions to be a burden (how often will you need to go through them), and if for some reason you want to change a value there is no problem. This was the first time I ever installed any kind of hardware on any type of personal computer. And everything worked the first time, with no problem, defining 4 partitions on the drive.
