2632.0. "NFT and Amiga files" by SYSTEM::HELLIAR () Fri Jun 09 1989 09:16

    I'm not sure if this is the right conference but here it goes.

    I'm trying to get ANALYTICALC.ZOO onto my Amiga at home. Due to
    location, lack of modems etc I have to :

    1.	GEt it onto a PC (via ethernet).
    2.	Load onto my Amiga using PCCopy.

    I am at the momemt stuck on 1.

    I've had to rename the file to ANCALC.ZOO due to DOS limitiations but
    on using NFT to copy it from my area on the VAX to the PC I get reead
    errors due to ' unexpected DAP at byte 2048' .

    I've also tried it with and without the /BLOCK operator in the copy
    command.

    HAs anyone any suggestions .

    PS. The PC connected to the ethernet is dedicated to WPS-DOS and so any
    suggestions should not affect the users of the PC.

    			Thanks in advance

    			Graham.

    Easy !!
    The file is either stream_LF and should be fixed length OR it's
    fixed length and should be stream_LF. Use CVTARC to change it.

    I checked it out, I'll bet the file is stream_LF - NFT doesn't like
    that so you must use CVTARC to change it to variable length max 510

    $ CVTARC v filename.zoo

    Then NFT works fine.

    the file was stream_LF so I used CVTARC V to change it.

    Same results !.

2632.4BLOCKhead - it worksSYSTEM::HELLIARMon Jun 12 1989 08:3710
    Sorry.

    I forgot to do /BLOCK as well.

    I've got it on the PC now although the copy took 2 hours - Oh the joy
    of NaFT.

    Thanks for the help

    Interesting, because after I replied to your note earlier I tried
    a copy from my VAX to PC via NFT and ethernet and the two very large
    startrek .zoo files copied over in under 5 minutes. (393503 and
    714135 bytes) I didn't use /BLOCK either. Are you copying from a
    remote node or a local one ?

2632.6Ignorance doesn't helpSYSTEM::HELLIARMon Jun 12 1989 12:207
    Sorry I don't know.

    As you may have guessed I don't know anything about PC's on the
    ethernet. Phyically the two are close but what ethernet sees them as I
    don't know.

    Transfer speed reported at the end of NFT was approx 300.
