At the present moment I'm waiting to receiving a C-Ltd's SCSI Host adaptor. After speaking to the sale's guy I'm buying from he tells me that the software will only work with Segate disks. 1) If this is the case what S/W do I need so I can use any type of drive ? 2) Looking through the notes Ingo mentioned A.L.F. I'ed just picked up AMIGA WORLD April's issue and Prospect Technics Inc. P.O.Box 670 Station H Montreal Quebec H3G 2M6 also talks about their A.L.F. which can be used with any I.B.M. comp drive. (even RLL types). Is this the same or is this another type? 3) I'm I right in thinking that the C-Ltd's controller is not DMA ? If so what controller is DMA for the A500 ? Thanks for any help (even if it is just to point to another note as I'm using a 1200Baud modem and its slow trying to read all the notes) Steve G.

re 3) Yeah, it's slow (can you say molasses? :-) ) non-DMA controller. The only DMA controller I can think of right now is the A590, perhaps there's one from Supra or Microbotics, I dunno. The GVP is NOT DMA. For more info take a look at my HD controller review in an upcoming note. - <CB> |
